Technology@lemmy.world•G-Assist is ‘real’: NVIDIA unveils NitroGen, open-source AI model that can play 1000+ games for youEnglish
26·2 months agoHow much legal trouble would I get for kicking a CEO in the testicles? it feels like it would be worth it if I ever met NVIDIA’s bosses.
Can people tell me why focus is on the one piece of hardware in the set of three that had already seen a failed attempt in 2015? I thought more people would be talking about the Steam Frame and Controller?

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Google's latest reason to give them $14/month: "Watch in faster playback speeds with Premium"English
1381·2 months agoI am not against paying for services to unlock extra features, but I utterly despise the way YouTube premium is entirely composed of features we had but they took away.

3·2 months agoWell, I guess they weren’t technically lying.
The middle ground would be making these companies comply with rules that stop them manipulating users, but we already know that these companies would rather cop the fine and do the bad things anyway.

4·2 months agoIt’s nice there are people like this.
I remember Adelaide, Australia was looking at having cameras with facial recognition. They told the police, “Please do not utilize it until we draft proper privacy policies for the public”. The police basically responded with, “Nah, we’ll probably use it.” As such the council went, “Fuck you then, we will draft the rules before we implement the cameras.”

Games@lemmy.world•The Game Awards begins 11 hours from now. What are you looking forward to?English
9·2 months agoI’ve never cared for it - the entire show’s awards and announcements could be YouTube Shorts that I can pick and choose to watch, and I’d get exactly the same thing out of it.
I wait a day and then check for a megathread with bullet points, then see if there is anything of interest to me.

9·2 months agoIt’s the motive that is probably the sour part - they banned it for it’s LGBTQ+ content, not the pedophiles. They consider it worse than pedophilia…

Technology@lemmy.world•Meta starts kicking Australian children off Instagram and FacebookEnglish
1·2 months agoI guess I don’t, anymore? I have my fedi-stuff, which basically comes down to Piefed and Pixelfed.
I had a hard think about what things I use, and why, and realized all the social networks I used I didn’t need. Facebook and Instagram became a ritual of watching Reels, and I didn’t really use the rest. I liked keeping a photoblog though, hence having a Pixelfed account.
If a business only has a Facebook presence…well I probably didn’t need to interact anyway? And if I do I am sure I can find a number, an email, or go in person…
They made a specific effort to remove that line a decade ago, which is a strong indicator of how much of a fuckwad Sundar Pichai is.

Does this mean others could continue the work? Are there people who would?
