maybe your experience would be different in europe but deadlock has really not had much toxicity so far, im sure it will get worse when the game actually comes out and has an actual ranked gamemode but so far almost no one talks in vc and no one really flames in text chat at least compared to my experience from league

honestly in my experience there really hasnt been that much toxicity, very very few people even use vc and ive been flamed in text way less than in league. it’s possible im too shit at the game to get the toxic people tho

i really dont think this is an accurate take on the game’s community at all it is by far the most LGBTQ+ friendly valve title i’ve seen, maybe it has changed drastically since you’ve tried it but the game’s community makes me think way more of overwatch or valorant than appealing to teen boys like cs.

also, my guess why the characters dont feel great is that most of them are literally from an earlier iteration of deadlock called neon prime that was a wildly different scifi setting and they havent been fully fleshed out yet for the new setting

teamspeak 4 felt like it was in the stone age while discord had a bunch of cool ass features for chatting outside of voice. it also was much more appealing to casuals by being free to use and super easy to set up your own server, whereas setting up your own teamspeak server involved portforwarding and whatnot that turns off the vast majority of “normies”

ultimately i think it’s much much more disruptive to society and really to the NFL to have the players trying to spread a message about social justice than the superbowl halftime performer. Like, think about it this way: the halftime performer will be lucky to perform for the superbowl even twice, i think the most anyone has ever been on stage was 3 times from a quick search and even imagining some performer who first performs in the super bowl as like, a 12 year old i struggle to imagine them performing more than 5 times. meanwhile a player who takes a stand will be able to do so week after week for years, maybe even a decade+, and since he is an athlete he could inspire many other athletes to take a stand over those years, who could themselves inspire other athletes, etc.

i dont think it’s any harder than any other fiction? surely even a little shared world building is easier than coming up with all of it on your own? it’s so bad man people dont even display class struggle of like, workers coming together to strike and how the owning class deals with that? like ultimately even with a magic system i dont think should actually be that hard to display some sort of class struggle, really my complaint boils down to not only are there very view outright socialist works there are barely even any works that show class struggle in fantasy/sci fi worlds?

nice! it feels to me there is a dearth of communist fiction out there, although admittedly i have only mostly read fanfiction for a longtime so maybe there is much more original communist fiction compared to fanfic which for whatever reason seems to have a particularly high concentration of shitlib/radlib works (not to mention ive found way more outright fascist work than communist fanfics!)
