Or garlic, or chili flakes or topped with hummus. Basically roast any vegetable with olive oil, season it and add some kind of flavour bomb and you’ll be good.

Australia@aussie.zone•A 'wake-up call': How can Australia realistically reduce its reliance on oil?English
1·15 hours agoIt’s pretty much impossible to go from an oil dependent economy to an oil free economy overnight. Even this current crisis is based on reduced availability. Not none. Current infrastructure would need to be used to create new, oil independent infrastructure. In much the same way that the original cars has their components shipped by barge, by steam train, by horse and cart etc.

Climate@slrpnk.net•Carbon emissions per capita of world’s largest economies (2024)4·16 hours agoThe problem is that EU can’t compete on price. However, as they are long term it is not as much of a risk to install foreign technology that is not necessary to internet connect.
The EU is reducing, which is why per capits is important. We can see what is possible. Clearly the USA is not doing well. China has made huge inroads in green energy and I think it’s a combination of wanting to be at the forefront of new technology and a need for energy security.
As it stands, china is about triple the EU, while manufacturing for them. The USA is just burning carbon for no reason as they no longer manufacture. This will worsen until ai bubble pops. They have quite a bit of nuclear power though. Their oil based economy is just too ingrained. Similar to Saudi Arabia. Why bother reducing when oil is cheap.
I fully expect tariffs in carbon pricing to be the next trade tariff globally. Whyake the hard cuts that cost.more on your internal market when the competition does it cheaper and doesn’t care about environmental effects. It forces incentives to do the right thing and prevents the externalization of costs.

Climate@slrpnk.net•Carbon emissions per capita of world’s largest economies (2024)10·17 hours agoIf it wasn’t per capita, we’d just be looking at population size graphs. It is useful information and shows what is possible. We should be looking at metrics like CO2 per unit of gdp also. It’s not just people, it’s industry. Some of chinas emissions are really other countries emissions, offshored for China to produce. China profits from it, of course.

Australia@aussie.zone•Why does Australia have an overpriced passport?English
52·20 hours agoAustralia doesn’t have a large population and pretty much everything has to be imported at increased cost or made on shore for increased cost.
There is a lack of efficiency built into the ‘shell be right’ attitude, which unfortunately means that those in positions of power to try and reduce costs don’t do so. The lack of healthy competition and high wages are contributing to this. Government then feels less pressure to bring costs in line also.
Most other countries pay their staff less and have a more efficient system in place. Generally though, the higher price leads to decent, if not world leading, service levels.
Generally, it’s known as the Australia tax. The bright side is not leads to less people living in poverty and a high standard of living. The bad side is every is more expensive so after the essentials, everything costs significantly more. The essentials also cost more, but it’s less egregious.

101·20 hours agoIf you haven’t been used to the extra money yet, tru and keep making the ‘paynents’ but to something to your benefit, like a saving account or to stocks or towards an objective like a holiday or other big purchase.
Once you are used to not having the payments to make, it becomes harder to save. Of you never have the money on your account, it becomes easier.

Hoarding cash is not what I’m saying. I’m saying reduce demand, not increase it. The added bonus is that you have cash flow increase and time increase.
