I’m new to Lemmy and therefore exploring different instances, you could say. I myself am a pirate and I do it for watching purposes (this much is pretty obvious from my username). I’m also an otaku and somewhat of a privacy consious user.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Need a solid daily driver browser that’s good for most things
1·20 hours agoIf you want a privacy-focused Chromium browser with no Google stuff and also one that has extensions then, check out Cromite.
If you want a privacy focused browser which runs the most smoothly out of all privacy focused browsers and is the best one for simple people, I suggest Brave. (sadly it’s a US product)
And there’s always the Firefox forks, I would recommend these: Iceraven Browser, Fennec, WebLibre, IronFox. I would suggest IronFox and the most here since it’s the best one for privacy and doesn’t need any more hardening since it’s mostly fully hardened out-of-the-box. This is specifically for Android. If on desktop, you can check out LibreWolf, Mullvad Browser, Zen Browser etc. I recommend LibreWolf the most here.
Main advice: Every browser has pros and cons. You have to use each one and figure out the best browser for yourself. For example, Brave is greatly hardened out-of-the-box and every site runs very smoothly. So, great convenience. But sadly, it’s a US product! Cromite has no Google stuff and runs smoothly too, but it’s not hardened out-of-the-box. You have to manually add filter lists to improve your experience. IronFox is greatly hardened out-of-the-box, but it’s sometimes too hardened that sites break or behave weirdly. And sites also don’t run as smoothly as it runs on Chromium browsers (this happens for any Firefox browser at all, especially on Android)
Optional but recommended tip: Check out Celenity and his guides. You can also check out his Recommendations for services you use
The post jaieilgin made is another true example of sexism

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•In a place without access to US apps and online services, how would you use the Internet?
1·2 days agoFediverse users are already prepared greatly if something like this were to occur 😹
And I wish this would really happen

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•In a place without access to US apps and online services, how would you use the Internet?
1·2 days agoIn terms of YouTube, I would use Peertube and Odysee or perhaps, GrayJay. Mastodon instead of Twitter, I don’t even need Facebook so nothing for Facebook, I’m a pirate anyways so I don’t even need Netflix, Amazon. I don’t need Apple in any way since I use Android. If there’s no existence of even an Android device, then I would either use a Linux Phone or just Linux on desktop. Brave Search or Mojeek or others instead of Google. Ask Brave (it’s American so I guess it’s not counted), Deepseek, Qwen etc. instead of ChatGPT. I don’t use Tiktok so nothing here. I would probably spend just a little bit less time on internet (mainly because of disappearance of YouTube). For me, not much would change other than the YouTube experience. I predict I would most likely watch TV channels more once again due to not finding enough enjoyable content.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do YOU personally determine if someone is a good or bad person?
3·2 days agoI determine it by analyzing their attitude, behaviour, body language, their personal beliefs.
That certain age for me was 13
I used to do it before but not anymore. I use pseudonyms nearly 100% of the time whenever I make an account for anything.
In case of the comments, I used to use Instagram at a time, and my Instagram has my real name, bio, and information. And as you know, there’s a lot of racism and toxicism on the platform’s comment sections so I have faced racism a bit. Aside from that, nothing much.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Will Lemmy/ the fediverse become age verified platforms?
1·3 days agoIf it happens in case of Fediverse, It will only happen in instances based or hosted in countries where there’s age verification. But censorship on entirety of Lemmy or Mastodon would be very hard.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Car (lack of) privacy, and what to do about it. Let's talk about this?
7·3 days agoSpoiler: Not a single brand received Mozilla’s Best Of designation, though researchers identified Renault as the least problematic. The European brand must comply with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a stringent law governing the way in which personal data is used, processed, and stored.
Qurbani is actually meant to be a sacrifice in the first place. We’re sacrificing something close to us for Allah. But Feeling compassion and kindness for animals is completely normal and okay. In your case, it’s a bit too much for you so you’re free to appoint someone else (a butcher or trusted individual) to perform the slaughter on your behalf.
In case of veganism, Veganism is generally considered halal in Islam, provided the individual does not hold the belief that consuming animal products is inherently forbidden (haram) or that abstaining from them is a religious act of worship.
And Allah knows best. I would suggest to ask advice from a good Sheikh or a very knowledgeable and religious Muslim
Give the hamster some privacy, dude
I just came to visit this community too but seems like it’s pretty much dead
There’s no pressure on you to initiate a Salam. You can do it if wished, No problem if you don’t do it. It’s really your choice, do as you want.
You will be getting stuff like that in future, I predict. Oh, and you will also be getting ads in your brain

I avoid a few brands because I don’t find their products good. Other than this, I don’t care about brands much. I choose to buy based on the quality rather than brand
