I think it’s amazing how well this game still holds it’s own against some of these modern AAA titles. It is notoriously the worst rated among the Greek storyline, but I can play the entire collection repeatedly and still have a good time.

You all are the greatest, thanks for stopping by!

  • FINALLY beat the damn stage and the game

Trust me, if you beat this part, the rest of the game feels like a joke. But damn it the Trial of Archimedes was something else

I had dropped inputs probably due to limitations of the PS3 processing power i.e. some buttons do not respond timely, your Orkos (especially) does not deploy even when you hear the prompt, see the smoke etc… It gets spent but no Orkos 😦 … and you have to wait for the timer to reset for another shot. Meanwhile at lest 2 gorgons and 2 sirens are ganging up on you like they want your lunch money. Maybe HARD difficulty was unnecessary torture, but it has been done…again… by me this time… and you can too! 😎

Keep playing this stage until you find a pattern that works for you in the first round with the gorgons and sirens. For me, I used less of the LEFT ANALOG and more of the RIGHT ANALOG It minimized dropped inputs and made evading easier in the fight. Of course in the first part, you want to evade at any chance you get, deploy Orkos or your Amulet and keep going. YOU NEED SPACE. Keep any eye on Kratos while rolling away from enemies because you may loose track of his position during the fight). Let Orkos do most of the hitting and when you get the chance, drop a + + combo or any short one to chip away at their HP

Very important, no matter the strategy I used to fight here, what made the difference for me was evade, Orkos, Amulet and SHORT COMBOS ONLY WHEN THERE WAS ENOUGH SPACE BETWEEN KRATOS AND THE ENEMY. Even if the enemies are off-screen, some hits will get them. A 3-hit combo at a time is enough = = =DO NOT BE GREEDY= = =

One trick I noticed here when using the Amulet [ L2 + ] was to make sure the green orb was between Kratos and the enemies. In HARD dfficulty, they are very aggressive so they eventually run into the orb…slowing them down

Sometimes while evading, you might get cornered by the gorgons and sirens. This is a good time to use R2 as it may help knock some Sirens off the stage, giving you one less enemy to worry about. Use a grapple finisher to regain used R2 magic. Focus on EVADING HERE TO WIN.

For Phase 2, it is much easier but my fighting pattern relied more on L1 i.e. I held a blocking stance while observing the attack rhythm of the blue bitches with golden spears. When I had an opening, I rolled away from them (because after long minutes of playing this stage, it seems like the game punishes you for using the LEFT ANALOG during the trial) deployed the Amulet [ L2 + ] and then Orkos [ L2 + ]

You can beat this stage without special attacks but it’s okay if you use it to get some space. Finishing off the blue bitches with a grapple attack when the red icon appears restores used magic.

Once again, in this phase, blocking is the stance that dominated my game play. Wait for an opening, then strike.

For phase 3, the walls are spiked so I did not want to evade here. No, no no. Kratos will die and start all over. THIS IS WHEN I STARTED USING THE LEFT ANALOG FOR MOVING AROUND THE ARENA. For this part, I also used the Amulet to freeze the Centaur dude, and combo as much as needed. Deploying Orkos [ L2 + ] was helpful in chipping away their HP. The final enemies are 3 attackers with purple blades. The way I played left me with 4 magic bars so I kept spamming magic and cycling Amulet, Orkos until the fight was over.

When you have one or two enemies in the arena, please use the Amulet [ L2 + ] to allow you get a few hits in.
