House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said Democrats will not focus on impeaching President Trump if they regain a majority in the lower chamber after midterm elections.
“I’ve made clear from the very beginning that our top priority is going to be to drive down the high cost of living,” the House minority leader added.
The House minority leader has lauded Democrats’ push for redistricting nationwide in an effort to pick up additional House seats and signaled that the party will advocate more for working-class Americans, after Democrats saw losses from the key demographic in the 2024 election.

I agree and don’t want to support a party that is okay with continuing to meddle in the Middle East.
However, creating a litmus test for liberal voters that results in MAGA candidates being elected who support even worse policy is not the way forward.
Its not the fucking litmus test that lost them the election, it was the fucking candidates unwillingness to fucking meet the moment when the voters were incredibly clear about what their standards were.
You don’t get to decide what other voters standards are. You can only assess what they are and the advocate for candidates to meet those standards, otherwise, the candidates will lose. Its not more complicated then that.
You want Harris to have won? Then you should have been putting every iota of effort into getting her to change her policies on Israel and Gaza. There was no other path for her to take the white house.
Know who else was incredibly clear about their intentions?
Donald Trump.
Was I happy Kamala/Biden didn’t meet the moment? Fuck no. Did I still vote for them cuz I have brain cells and I knew there was only one other viable alternative that was undeniably worse? Fuck yes.
It isn’t just about candidates reaching voters. It’s also about voters being responsible enough to do the right thing, even under shitty circumstances.
I just don’t know how much we have to beat you over the head with this to get you to understand.
If the above quote represents your understanding or thesis on how voting or elections work, you will continue to lose elections to Republicans on our behalf. You don’t get a choice on how voters behave, no matter how much tut-tutting or hand wringing you do.
You have to meet voters where they are at. You do not have another choice. What you are offering is a false equivalence, and is the very reason why Democrats lost to fascists. You don’t get a choice.
Its very telling as soon as you tell these people that politicians should stand up for what’s right, they foam at the mouth and insult you for wanting better from the “lesser” evil.

I’m not a big fan of the DNC, but again, I will always vote for the better of two options.

You can beat me over the head all you want with your spaghetti arms. It’s not going to prevent me from making the right decisions or expecting MOTHERFUCKING ADULTS to make the right decision, even if they aren’t coddled by politicians the way they want to be. It’s not like election campaigns are the only way to determine where a candidate or party stands. There’s an entire history of data PROVING where they stand. Part of a citizen’s responsibility is making themselves aware of that history.
This wasn’t calculus. It was a low IQ convicted felon and adjudicated rapist with 1 failed presidency and 2 impeachments vs. a non-criminal with a doctorate who just didn’t meet the moment in the campaign. It doesn’t get easier than that.
If GROWN ASS ADULTS can’t do what’s right even under those circumstances, then yes, I absolutely will, and rightfully so, place blame on the voters. That doesn’t mean I don’t understand how voting or elections work. It means I’m acknolwedging that voters have a responsibility that goes beyond politician’s campaigns and American voters (and idiot non-voters) FUCKED THAT RESPONSIBILITY UP SPECTACULARLY.
I am not here to discuss what Democrats need to do to win. That’s obvious. I’m here to point out that voters are absolutely at fault as well.
Well, by all means, let’s encourage young voters to abstain and allow the worst shit to happen, right?
