Will this undermine most of what makes IAmA special? Probably. But Reddit leadership has all the funds they need to hire people to perform those extra tasks we formerly undertook as volunteer moderators, and we’d be happy to collaborate with them if they choose to do so.
Reddit basically killed IAmA as a major draw to Reddit when they fired Victoria. You could tell that admins didn’t want to give mods that much power nor offer official support. That it continued as it did is commendable to the mod team, but I can see why they are doing what they are doing.
