I’m mostly concerned about https://lemmy.world/c/newhampshire because I’m from there, but they’re on a range of location and interest communities. Where’s the line for community mod-squatting?

It’a going to be up to admins to relieve communities of mod squatters. I believe they have been responsive in the past, I just don’t have direct experience with them.

The Elon_Musk account has been banned for community squatting and being inactive for almost two weeks.

If there is no activity in a community, it will be purged so that others can use the name.

If you would like to claim one of the communities, please reply to this comment.

Thanks @michelleg! Is it also possible to remove him from the mod list? I don’t see a way to do that, and it doesn’t look like they’ve made any posts or comments in the community.

User buelldozer has done the same thing with several communities, apparently reserving them for the mods of the corresponding subreddits.

I’d like to see c/sexover30 active and would take it over to see that happen.

I’ve sent you a message regarding the Scotland community. Overall, the team is working on standards for creating communities. Creating dozens to then “squat” will be addressed.
