This is a dish from my childhood in Russia. The stew is made of cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, kielbasa (or hot dogs), and tomato paste with some basic spices. You can also add pickles and olives. The potatoes are skinned and boiled, then lightly flavored with butter and salt. You want them pretty plain to act as a base for the savory stew.
Looks good. Do you use onion, garlic, or celery too? As far as spices…my guess would be bay leaf and pepper, at a minimum. Anything else?
I might have to give this a try. Looks pretty easy. Probably just brown the sausage, saute the veggies for a few minutes, add a little stock/broth, and cook until the veggies are done.
I used garlic, bay leaf, pepper, and some paprika. You can use stock/broth, water, or even beer to thin it out.
Smoked sausage in a stew is a great template. I think many cuisines have a similar concept. This one looks great!
Oh my lard soylanka is my absolute favorite soup! I love to add pickle brine and sour cream to mine. I never thought of making it into a stew, great idea to switch it up.
It hits the same spot for me, and you can definitely add sour cream here. It would be heavenly.
Needs more beans
jk it looks very nice!
Looks great, I’ll have to try too make the.
