At first sight, what was before us appeared to be a recreation of the biblical scene of Christ and his 12 apostles sharing a last meal before his crucifixion by a bunch of drag queens.

Christians are so self centered and always thinking the world revolves around them they cannot imagine that this was anything but an attack on them.

ETA: the Gojira concert was amazing.

there has been controversy over certain male fans complaining that female beach volleyball players have been allowed to reject the bikini bottoms they were previously required to wear – with the International Olympic Committee even mandating how skimpy they had to be – in favour of leggings

    Oh my, the absolute outrage!

I like how the author kept attacking the DJ for being a fat lesbian. But when you look at the profile picture of the author, she looks like a fat lesbian.

It’s always projection with these religious people.

Alright, let’s talk. What would you see done about it? And, more relevant, what do you think Jesus would do?

It’s hard to imagine Jesus getting all super offended by this. I imagine He might say something like “You don’t have to get all furious on my behalf” or He might say “You hypocrite! Look at your own behavior!”

About the Olympics as a whole, it seems like worldlyness to me: vast sums of money spent on spectacle that benefits a relative few people. I think Christians can let the worldly do their thing without engaging and without getting caught up in controversy that distracts us from the Kingdom of Heaven.

Agreed. Jesus had no patience for people who used religion as a means of personal, political, or economic power. The impression I got about guy I read about is that he’d be a thousand times more cross (pun for you) with America’s Evangelicals than he would be with this.

Nothing. Dont watch the olympics, dont give it prestige, dont give it the time of day. They fuck up every time, scandal after scandal.

Why give them the time of day? Let the ioc rot

I don’t watch the Olympics and never have. I would rather watch amateurs compete like Bob down the Street, who drank a few beers before the pole vault.

Watching a bunch of professional people compete isn’t that interesting to me. It requires a lot of money to get to the Olympics and I would rather see people more deserving to go.
