    These consequences, while unintended, were predicted.

    I and many other conservatives argued that lockdowns generally would weaken and destabilize society.

    It’s understandable that people felt the need to take drastic action, because of the fear. But it’s reprehensible that I and others arguing for the benefits of continuity were vilified as “caring more about the economy than about Grandma”.

    Grandma, like everyone else we know, is fed and protected by that economy we were arguing for protecting. We can’t just turn the economy off and turn it back on again, and not expect serious damage to the intricate web of functioning relationships.

    I even predicted it would cause war. Which it did.
