Tbh I’m pretty apathetic on tumblr sjws, because I have little interaction with that subculture directly. There’s two broad groups I dislike. One is centrists who have zero concern with helping marginalized groups, but will weaponize identity when it helps them shut down critiques from their left. And another is people who use identity as a means to give shallow hot takes that just pathologize normal behaviour. OTOH the best example is that woman who was mad Dev Patel is dating a short white brunette, and decided to somehow try to make it an identity politics issue.

Outside of these two groups I find it’s mostly people approaching things in good faith, and either being naive, or too aggressive, and I can’t get find myself getting too mad at that. Especially since that latter group is very winnable to socialism.

I’ve heard the argument that idpol is alienating to the working class, and I agree the language of NGOs or centrists Dems surrounding idpol can be, but I don’t buy for a second there’s a dichotomy between the white working class and other marginalized groups.

the explosion of discourse on micro-aggressions and feelings and stuff is pretty understandable from a generation that grew up surrounded by hateful fascists but had access to liberal solidarity on the internet, the character (classlessness and liberal toothlessness) of the thing is an artifact of global capitalism, not some essential fault of the SJWs themselves, nor even the bulk of the theory

thankfully the left has figured out they can use MLM subjectivity dialectics to weaponize everything in liberal postmodernism, so yes, we’re going to take the master’s tools, and we’re not going to apologize for it

I think the main thing people are missing in this conversation is that Tumblr hasn’t been that relevant in online discourse for a while now and people today are way more likely to shit on Twitter users.
