and why doesn’t everybody vote? I don’t understand why it isn’t mandatory i think everyone should have to, men, women, and children. If you can read the ballot, you should be able to vote. I know my nephew wouldn’t have voted for trump and he’s 10!

The reason why people say it is because it is meant to be a dig at his legitimacy; he can’t claim to be working for the people as the total electorate didn’t give him an outright majority.
That said, a lot of people didn’t show up to vote and no President in living memory has ever won that many votes.
