Must be nice to have such a simple view of the world.

Yes I have seen cowpee, and others, disregard any information from any western organization, government, university, etc. Then, when someone did the same with information coming from china, cow said they were clearly to immature to have a rational, good faith, argument.

Western media is just propaganda, doesn’t mean everything they say is wrong. Same goes for the media branches of the CCP.

This is what so many people don’t get. Propaganda doesn’t mean it’s untrue. In fact the best propaganda usually isn’t.

So pointing out something is propaganda is not a valid reason to dismiss inconvenient information, you need to actually investigate and analyze what is going on.

When this happens I like to ask them what media they do trust. What source could I find to show you what reality is, that you would then believe the source?

I’ve never once had someone give a straight answer to the question. I literally showed someone an article from TASS saying what I was trying to claim, and all they said was “lol you know you’re citing TASS, that means I win” more or less. Reading articles and critiquing sources to find reliable ones, trying to form a picture of reality, just isn’t how they operate.

I feel like the Jacob Geller thing is accurate. They just don’t operate along the lines of reading things and being an independent person and making up their mind. Their whole thing is just figuring who to have allegiance to, and then fighting hard for that team. That’s why they keep thinking that anyone not on Russia’s side must automatically be on the State Department’s team and believe everything they say. It’s just confusing that someone might be an independent person that’s not on either one of those teams.

Yeah, I really just try to disengage with campists these days. Honestly authoritarian leftists are soooo few where I am from, they aren’t even worth really giving consideration to the problems I am facing. They are only a thing in online spaces like Lemmy. They are all “LOL, brainwashed imperialist. You cited an academic paper? It’s not from Zhengzhou? Ha, it’s just imperialist lies. I don’t have to engage with the data on any real, academic level, because LOL not from China!” The best is when someone asks them WTF they are supposed to do when they shit on all efforts for change, and they imply you are complicit because you have yet to instigate revolutionary violence, when they have never been in a fight, let alone fucking killed someone.

The small, actual, leftist movement here tends to run anti-authority, I am far more concerned with them. It is fun to talk shit though.

Per Jacob Geller: “It’s a worldview where we base our moral judgements of actions completely on the predetermined morality of the person carrying those actions out.” Claims are not right or wrong… people are right or wrong. A wrong person could repeat facts stated by a right person and still be wrong.

It’s reality as a team sport.
