Three weeks before hurricane season.
Why would you want to head an agency that is going to be dismantled? Don’t worry, if there’s a disaster, ol’ Donnie will show up and toss paper towels your way.
it’s only “embattled” because the far right sees fema as ‘handouts’ that often benefits some ‘brown’ people, and are quite vocal about their hate and disgust for the agency and ‘those people’.
mr. hamilton got the gig after criticizing “biden’s” fema. makes sense. donvict loves those who hate biden or obama or “the libs”.
starts work, sees what the agency really does, how it works, who it helps–realizes that “hey, this shit’s important work”.
tells others what he’s learned.
gets immediately fired for not blindly following the project 2025 playbook of chopping fema off at the knees and privatizing what’s left.
I remember when FEMA was “just a conspiracy theory”.
It wasn’t that FEMA was a conspiracy theory, but that it would be used to imprison millions of Americans on federal land.
That as well, but the existence of it at all (and, for that matter of the NSA) was for a long time only discussed in consipiratorial tones.
Also because they can suspend the Constitution. That was a thing.
Ah, yes, I remember the FEMA detention camp hiding under Detroit. Nasty machine gun dude down there.
It was death camps. That was around the time Obama had death panels. Use scary word == scary.
There was a whole period where the only people who thought FEMA was real were “conspiracy theorists”. Not the Qanut idiot drool brigade kind, the kind that read real books.
Of course back then they were always on about “the government” “recording” all your “conversations”. Ha ha! So outlandish.
When was this?
Sometime after it was publicly created? Shortly after, when it was in the news for being called in for 3 mile island? Or did people somehow forget it existed after that, despite all the funding and public appointments and whatnot?
Mid-80’s-ish?
