I doubt he’s engaged in anything. The man’s brain is gone. He said that legitimately believed the Supreme Court ruled in his favor on Abrego Garcia because his staff told him so, and I believe him. He doesn’t have the cognitive function to keep up with what’s happening, so he’s just doing what Stephen Miller tells him to do.

There are only three times in American history, that I can find, that habeas corpus was suspended. The civil war, WWII, and right after 9/11. It should be noted that SCOTUS overturned the suspension after 9/11 when Bush wanted to detain and send people to Guantanamo without due process. So, there’s some precedent as to when and how, the question will be, as it is ever increasingly, what is SCOTUS gonna do?

My entire life I’ve heard Americans lecture everyone how superior the US is because of all their rights, freedoms and “real democracy”. The freest country in the world! Look at the constitution and the bill of rights - the most democratic country EVER! Where are those Americans now?

Suspending the writ of habeas corpus would take Trump’s efforts even farther – allowing the government to detain migrants without giving them the opportunity to challenge that detention, essentially letting the administration detain people without providing justification.

    Also:

With the reinterpretation of “protective custody” (Schutzhaft) in 1933, police power became independent of judicial controls. In Nazi terminology, protective custody meant the arrest—without judicial review—of real and potential opponents of the regime. “Protective custody” prisoners were not confined within the normal prison system but in concentration camps under the exclusive authority of the SS

    Just saying.

yup. if you’re on my frequency, it’s just in time for summer. and it’s going to be a wild summer.

this is an old play (refined), bud they’d never even attempt this if they didn’t think it could work this time.

i get what you’re saying, but i don’t think i agree. it might look that way in the short term for american republicans, but it’s definitely not the end of the story for this type of ideology.

This was the last chance for the last hurrah of white supremacy before the world is too brown for them to be able to do this again.

yeah, that’s a very hopeful perspective… who still has all the money? who still controls the world? who still decides who gets just enough to keep them from revolting?

edit - and who has the means and will definitely destroy the world before it happens?

You’re acting like they have any clue what they’re doing. They don’t. They’re winging this too. And there’s less white people every day. This was a fascist movement borne of desperation.

if you want other people to see your replies, you need to reconsider the voting button. it’s for visibility - it shouldn’t be used solely because you disagree with a comment.

and you’re not really adding anything here, either. yes, you’re right. they’re winging it. they’re idiots. and there ARE less white people every day. but this isn’t a “fascist movement borne of desperation” insomuch as a fascist movement borne of opportunity.
