Weird. There is a movie that’s been out for more than 4 weeks, has banked over $200M domestic, and this is the first time I’ve ever even heard of it. Maybe my adblocking working better than I thought?
It’s so fucking good. We watched it three times at the theatre.
Last time I did that was when Blade Runner 2049 came out.
The recipe for success here is clear.
Keep finding promising young filmmakers making innovative work (Fruitvale Station) then hamstring them with franchise films for a decade (Creed, Black Panther). If they continue to be successful and not lose every shred of their creative spark, only then give them funding to make more original work.
Worked for Christopher Nolan, too. Although he did make The Prestige and Inception during his decade making Batman.
Yeah, this movie was a banger. If you haven’t watched it, go do it!
My wife and I saw this movie and it was one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. There’s basically every emotion you could ask for in a movie. One thing there’s a mid credits scene I suggest you stay for puts a nice bow on the ending and there’s a post credit scene which isn’t needed to watch.
My wife and I went and saw this and it was surprisingly pretty good
Saw it today. It’s really great. The sound design and the importance it plays both thematically and in execution of the story make it worth seeing in theatres. It has heady themes you can discuss later but respects the audience’s intelligence enough not to smack them across the face with it.
I love Coco.
