What do you mean by materialism? don’t really see how it applies.
Removed by mod
Oh materialism in a communist way, thats why google’s definition didn’t make sense.
There is far more evidence that the Uyghur genocide happened, than it didn’t. Even if it wasn’t a genocide, its still Crimes Against Humanity.
When it comes to the whole imperialism aspect, of course the U.S is imperialist, its stupid to say they’re not. But supporting Russia because they’re imperialist in the other way is wrong, because its still imperialism.
That’s the point of the post, I don’t see it as vibes based analysis and moreso just pointing this out.

I’m not downgrading it from genocide, I’m saying that its still a right’s violation, since some groups classify it as such, but don’t consider it genocide.

That’s literally a Zionist talking point, that calling out a genocide is diminishing another one.

Okay, differing defintions on imperialism aside, This blog post has a good few links https://pluralistic.net/2021/02/03/never-again/

I’d say that by tankie they mean people who have modern support of russia, and people who deny the Ughyur genocide. The term is used for those people because supporting Authoritarian Communism usually “comes with the territory”, so to speak.
I don’t see any other answer to the other question than: “person in america”. How/why could it be different?
but naturally the OOP is unable to confront her own brainworms here,
And what are those?

When people say tankie, they typically mean Authoritarian Communist,
Typically, people who support this will oppose U.S imperialism, which is good! But they will support states like russia because they oppose the U.S, even though russia would do much more damage if they had the ability.

What’s the proof of that?

The U.N says they are guilty of human rights violations https://news.un.org/en/story/2022/08/1125932
Investigations showed that there were forced sterilisations: https://apnews.com/article/269b3de1af34e17c1941a514f78d764c

That makes sense, but supporting a different group just because they oppose their Hegemony is wrong, because that group would cause much more harm if they had the ability.
An Enemy of my Enemy can still be my Enemy.

It looks like your instance was brigading, which is a trashy move, and probably why a lot of instances have defederated from you.

oesn’t “brigading” require at least a rallying post? I’m pretty sure a bunch of people finding the same post in their feed doesn’t qualify. I’d like to hear your definition.

This is a great point, and there is in fact a rallying post.
Fair enough. Personally the OP showed up on my front page and that one did not.
