It’s still crazy to me that reactionaries think democrats were on BLM’s side when many democrats somehow felt the need to speak up against BLM rather than do the easier thing of just shutting up

Ugh. There’s two of those in the lemmygrad mirror of this post and god it’s too early in the morning for me to be explaining to cacs why their stance is untrustworthy at best

Can anyone educate me on what Spiritual Bypassing is, and how it relates to White Supremacy? I’m from a quite secular place, so I can’t say that I often experience people even being spiritual at all, so this is a blind spot for me. I Googled it, but could only find vague explanations on using Spiritualism to dismiss things. I’m aware of all the other concepts, so figure I might as well educate myself on the one I’m not aware of.

I think that’s basically it, using religion to excuse no doing anything

Now excuse me because I have to do my nightly prayers for communism

One example is plastic shamans, white people appropriating deep shamanistic/indigenous belief systems into a typically grifting and very shallow new age style framework. Another good example is what’s happened with ayahuasca spiritual practices becoming mere vision tourism.

I’d add one more thing I’ve learned from Asian twitter accounts:

When intervening in an altercation between an Asian person and someone who isn’t (usually white), the white person restrains the Asian person (even as they’re still in the middle of being attacked) or only intervenes when the Asian person stands up for themselves.

I wasn’t sure if I should mention this as it sounds close to white silence, but in the event of a fight where an Asian person is being restrained while they’re still being attacked this is worse than merely being silent.

I am bit confused. How can someone in an argument in the comments be restrained?

For a second I thought that you were talking about an actual physical altercation.

I am talking about a physical altercation; there are videos uploaded of white people supposedly trying to break up fights but only holding back the Asian person while they’re (the Asian person) being physically attacked.

That sounds like mobbing on someone to me. Shows how racist they are.

I am not Asian, but I am a person of color, and once a group of white people wanted to gang on me just because I was asking for help to a cash register lady about my order ticket.

The first white guy just came saying “She is not going to help you.” Mind you that the guy didn’t work there.

Then another white guy came after him saying the same crap.

I didn’t even know how to react. I was just shocked because who the hell does that. Like asking someone for help about a placement ticket is not a crime or rude as far as I know to warrant such reaction from random men.

The cash register lady had to intervene for them to leave me alone.

There are crazy white supremacists everywhere and they always gang up.

    “there’s one human race”

Genuine question, how is that racist? Or is it because it’s a statement made from a “white privilege pov”?

I genuinely try to treat all people equal, but I realize I fail often due to unconscious biases etc.
