I am involved with a youth organization with my kids. We’re a very diverse group and so several of my kids friends are very precarious right now. I know at least one who carries 5 forms of ID everywhere outside of his house.

    Monsters are running this country,

My daycare closed for a day so they could get their passports “just in case”. This shit is infuriating.

1/4 is like 85 million people. some people are saying they aren’t concerned since they’re citizens but given what Trump has done, that can be stripped away at literally any moment

I have a some very close friends who are Venezuelan. They all claim they aren’t worried because they are citizens, but I’m not so sure. The MAGA Nazis don’t respect Birthright Citizenship, they certainly aren’t going to respect naturalization.

Bottom line: If you were born somewhere else, they want you gone.

Hispanic people voting for Trump in 2024 will go down in history as the modern equivalent of the historical “Jews for Hitler” movement.

If that’s the bottom line, the fine print is that the elected American government wants you gone if you aren’t white. They don’t need to work on that layer yet.

Donald Trump could use the N-word on TV tomorrow and it would be accepted.

I left because I knew they’d be coming for me sooner rather than later. I’m a trans immigrant. I honestly kinda regret my citizenship because it’s keeping me chained to the reich even from abroad.

Every time I hear sirens, I feel scare af, thinking its the gestapo.

I’m a naturalized citizen btw, but I still don’t feel safe (I’m not white).

I’m white AF, and my family has been here since the 1650s on one side, and 1720s on the other side. We literally funded a decent portion of the revolution. I’m still scared. They are coming for everyone that isn’t them.

Don’t worry, they won’t arrive in uniforms with sirens. They’ll arrive silently in masks.

“Blitzkrieg” is literally “lightning war”, and just refers to the style of offense the Germans used against other European countries in WWII, which was largely responsible for their early military success.

Armies at that time relied on stationary positions and slow logistics, horse-drawn carriages for a large portion. The Germans just blitzed into France, through the Maginot line.

Which makes me wonder whether the current idea of MAD holding off war isn’t as deluded as relying on the Maginot line. I sure hope it isn’t.

Anyway this is more just fascism in general. A fast rise in authoritarianism. Not “war” in the classical sense, although it certainly is basically war.

I don’t think that’s really the style in the US, but I agree with the sentiment

In the US, what’s more likely is that they find some random accusation to pin on you Abrego Garcia-style and then just keep you in the legal system gauntlet by adding new charges as soon as the timer runs out for trial on the old ones.

I mean 2 out of 4 believe the other 2 should be deported. 1 of those 2 don’t know that someone is trying to deport them. That’s the current state of America and how Trump got elected.

First they came for the Communists…
Then they came for the Socialists…
Then they came for the trade unionists…
Then they came for the Jews…
              Then they came for me…

The poem starts with “first they came for the communists”, but by the time they actually came for the communists they had already started hunting down disabled and queer people. One of the first things they did was burn down the Institute of Sexology, but you never hear about it. By the time they come for the communists, it’s too late.

              Same thing is happening today.
