For now, I have refrained from going to this system. Is it better to sit until I’m higher level, or should I just go anyways? I’m not enjoying fighting enemies at a much higher level than I am.

There’s a lot of difficulty adjustments you can do at any point from pause menu

So make a save, go there, and see what it’s like. Maybe you decide to lower difficulty and force thru it, maybe you reload and go level up.

But despite its flaws, Starfield gave a lot of player freedom. If you want to grind levels, adjusting difficulty adjusts XP earned. So you can cheese some settings to max XP gain and quickly get up to level 30.

And if you’re on PC you can always just use console commands to level up.

If you don’t like fighting enemies of a higher level than you, you’re better off holding off on that quest and focusing on other quests or doing side quests like the bounty missions and gaining more XP to get closer to that level 30. It’s going to be a while to get up to that point, but you can do like the other person recommended and adjust your difficulty if it’s not already adjusted.

Light spoilers, but the Freestar Rangers quest lines leads into a massive battle at the end and has a lot of challenging enemies, or maybe they’re not so much challenging as much as it’s a giant horde you need to deal with. You’re going to likely want to level up some more so you won’t have too many issues on that last part.

There is also some strategy to be had here. Stock up on a lot of resources, both ammo and health fortifying and healing resources, to help give you the best shot. Also consider what companion you take with you and what gear they have. Find the best suited for battles and best gear to share with them.
