    Nobody’s managed to pirate a novel, via ChatGPT. You can’t type in “Call me Ishmael” and get the rest of Moby Dick, one word at a time. And that’s public-domain! For modern works, a single paragraph falling out is treated as news.

    This tech can’t even do… Pierre Menard, Author Of The Quixote. It can tell you the plot to The Hobbit. It can fake JRR Tolkien’s writing style. But if you try and string together a whole-ass book, with that plot, in that style, you are not going to get a substitute for The Hobbit.

    And conversely, a copy of The Hobbit will not let you do erotic roleplay with Smaug.
