I’ve got a pixel 9 xl (free for some reason, verizon decided to give it to me i guess) and I haven’t had any issues. Beyond hating google, that is. It was a major upgrade to my last POS so i’m looking into graphene now

every time since the galaxy s5 (which I think was exploitable in some way I don’t remember) my verizon branded devices have been locked with no way to unlock the bootloader :(

        good luck!

I wouldn’t hold your breath. Even iPhones are over 6 inches now and they’re considered “small” phones.

GrapheneOS devs from what I’ve seen is still pretty lib in a way that would effect chances of a Chinese phone getting it.

That may or may not be true (I don’t know his opinions), but he has some basic hardware requirements that almost no phones meet - including being able to re-lock the bootloader with custom keys, which AFAIK excludes all Xiaomi phones.

Oh I presumed it would be a custom OEM like what it seems like they’re planning so assumed there would be some type of workaround for that.

        Their choice is purely technical

        https://grapheneos.org/faq#future-devices

Xiaomi also has horrible anti consumer practices in regards to bootloader unlocking:

Good to know! I had recalled some radlib stuff on the forums ages ago so good to know there is focused policy that ensures that’s not a factor

Didn’t one of them get drafted into the Ukraine war?

          Yes.

Edit: Technically, was a nondescript conflict the team didn’t want to release that just so happened to have all the details of a Ukrainian being drafted.

I have a Vivo XFold 3 Pro, and I just kept the OriginOS on it. I’ve had very few issues with it.

This is good especially because not only has Google abandoned their “Don’t Be Evil” motto long ago (if it ever really applied), but they are now very actively evil. They have been one of the most important supporters of genocide, proactively engaging the IOF to use their AI services in murdering Palestinians. While there’s no ethical consumption etc etc, my security wasn’t so important that I could justify giving Google money for their crap phones just because GOS used it.

I think AOSP is something like a month behind their planned release date, screwing up Graphene’s ability to support Pixel 10s. Plus with Google trying to kill sideloading, having a full alternative fork with OEM support would be great.
