“BJ’s Wholesale Club“
Anybody been? Any fans? Come on - who likes BJs? Give us the skinny!
Good place. Not as Costco as Costco nor as Sammy as Sam’s Club
For years we had both Costco and BJs Wholesale memberships, because they do complement each other.
BJs Wholesale
- cheap membership
- more non-bulk sizes
- more everyday stuff
Costco
- more expensive membership
- bulk packaging
- more high end or occasional stuff
- excellent store brand (Kirkland)
I never joined Sam’s Club because there isn’t one nearby but my general impression is it s the cheapest but also the lowest quality. If you want the cheapest possible TP this might be for you but if you want the best value on ultra soft multi-ply TP, Kirkland brand at Costco!
For example I might get TP from Costco because great price and bulk packaging for some really nice TP, and that can sit on a basement shelf all year. I might also get a new TV there if they have the brand and model I want because it’ll be a really nice one at a really good price. I might get peanut butter from BJs Wholesale because they carry my preferred brand for less than the grocery and it comes in a size I can finish before it goes bad. They both carry Pepperidge farms bread but Costco requires buying two loaves whereas I think BJs lets you buy one. It’s been a while but I believe BJs Wholesale fruit was a bit better, or maybe just in a quantity I could use.
Costco bakery has outstanding food but too big. I love their muffins but I can’t finish 12. Their tiramisu’s incredible but it’s like 5 pounds. Their birthday cake is cheaper than the grocery while being twice the size and tasting much much better. I bought their pecan pie as a backup dessert for Thanksgiving and it tasted excellent but was bigger than two pies. Of course I did finish it. Eventually
Thanks so much for the details! I’m surprised on the Kirkland TP though - I thought we tried it during the pandemic and it felt like typical industrial 1/2 ply, I’ll have to give another look. But that’s nice that it’s closer to Costco in quality; I gave up on the Sams ready-made meals a while ago because the quality was just soooo bad. Here’s hoping we get a BJ’s near us!
