I don’t trust Bandcamp. They’re a corporate site, still early in the enshittification cycle, and I’m sure you know people who trusted Facebook and Google when they first came out and later got screwed over. But we post a lot of bandcamp links in this community bc a lot of good artists use it and it’s still not too bad. All I’m saying is IF you buy stuff on Bandcamp, this Friday February 6th is a good time to do so, bc Bandcamp says on that day “we waive our revenue share and pass the funds directly to artists & labels” meaning the musicians get more of the money than they ordinarily would.

    NGL, there currently is no other website that is capable of coming close to bandcamp.

    It’s not a matter of ‘trust’ as any online portal is going to take a cut for bandwidth costs and site maintenance… it’s down to what platform is the least abusive to the musicians.

    I love bandcamp precisely because they’re not total dicks in an an industry built on dick behavior.

    Thanks for sharing this. I had no idea, and I mostly use Bandcamp for my music these days. This will be a good excuse to get some new music.
