Movies owned by the Disney company generate a lot of merchandise: Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars. But technology is leading to a decrease in the sale of physical toys. What better way to get kids interested in toys again than a movie about how the toys are sad kids are neglecting them in favour of technology.
Toy Story was great. But after three or four, it becomes a nightmare. You have these plastic, immortal figures cursed to live forever. They can’t tell the ones they love that they’re real and have emotions, feelings, and desires. They have the misfortune to see everyone they care about get old and die, while they linger on. They can’t die. They have no agency. They exist to serve. They are slaves to children that don’t know how the world works.
What does this say about our world? What lesson can we learn from their tragic lives?
Maybe we should pity them. Maybe we shouldn’t grow attached to them. Maybe it’s a commentary on how man creates out of a desire to live, only to grow bored and toss that love away when it’s no longer novel. Maybe it says that even our best intentions lead to misery and torture.
Our maybe they should just stop milking the franchise because it’s uncomfortable now.
They have the misfortune to see everyone they care about get old and die, while they linger on
Dragons live forever, but not so little boys.
Painted wings and giant’s rings make way for other toys
One gray night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And Puff, that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar
Toy Story movies are legitimately the best movies they should stop making. 4 was good, and I have no doubt 5 will be good. But whatever happened to trilogies? A trio of Toy Story movies were great as-is, and the ending of 3 was perfect.
I think it should have ended with 3 but I’m gonna keep watching the series anyway
I’ve never seen 4 and I never want to …
3 ended perfectly for me.
Some of you might think my theory is correct but I’m not serious about it because I’m not that cynical about movies. I think Pixar loves its Toy Story films and genuinely wanted to tell a story about what happens to toys when kids become distracted by technology.
Also, from the perspective of trying to make money, I’m sure Disney is also making money off apps, games, and streaming. They don’t care if the money comes from physical toys or digital toys. They’re probably selling tablets in the likeness of the film’s villain. Convincing kids to go back to physical toys will gain them money in one area but lose money in another area
Digital is WAY cheaper for them overall
Which just proves my point further, since this was part of arguing for why my joke is wrong and they wouldn’t want people to go back to physical
They don’t care if the money comes from physical toys or digital toys.
oh my… you sweet, summer child
Why sweet summer child? I made a cynical statement, they just want money no matter the source
cant wait to play the tie in game for toy story 5 and defeat the evil tablet. Maybe they’ll have a crossover with Fortnite or Roblox too.

You know the movie is going to have video games based on it, even though it will completely go against the message of the film
