I do, in fact, enjoy casting buffs for 3 business days and then obliterating Morgott from the face of this planet with a BFG-9000
From what I see when I coop: Most players don’t know how they work.
See a man cast 50 buffs at the door; only 3 of them actually stack and you’ve wasted a ton of time and mana.
It’s essential to use law of regression last to make sure your opponent doesn’t get any buffs of their own 🧠

All you need is bonk.
Buffed bonking is fun though.
But if spend level for cast buff, less level spend for bonk.
No need spend level when most buffs also come in consumable form. Even Golden Vow is a consumable item now. You got those, the physick, perfumes, and ashes of war, so even a mindless, devoid of intellect, faithless heathen can use the good buffs.
True. Still, late game treat yourself and get your bonk stick buffed at least once.
But you can also cast bonk with same level
Golden Vow AoW and Exalted Flesh and Cragblade need 0 levels invested.
You can put all of your levels in strength for max BONK.
Heh I came to say I don’t use buffs because bonk.
Getting sophisticated is too much work. Easier to just learn the choreography and dance. :P

When playing through ER these days, I usually only collect Fias buff.
I don’t use buffs, because it would take longer to buff-up than to actually kill the boss.
