Caitlin Kalinowski, head of robotics and consumer hardware at OpenAI, announced her resignation on Saturday, citing concerns about the company’s agreement with the Department of Defense.
In a social media post on X, Kalinowski wrote that OpenAI did not take enough time before agreeing to deploy its AI models on the Pentagon’s classified cloud networks.
“AI has an important role in national security,” Kalinowski posted. "But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got.”
*Department of War
Nonono, see it’s DOD again because we aren’t at war
Or ARE we?!
Special Military Operation, baby! You don’t need congressional approval when you change the words around!
shhh. be careful before the 🍊 👦 outlaws calling it a war and people get thrown into jail for calling it a war.
since we’re literally becoming russia rn.
It’s still the Department of Defense statutorily until Congress decides otherwise. “Department of War” was done by executive order and is therefore as good as bitch boy child rapist’s fun nickname for the department that goes on press releases.
Department of War is an illegitimate club, and an insult to this nation, and therefor I say let them insult themselves.
You know, I wonder if half of the reason for the rename, aside from being more on the nose.
Is so even when the stock market tanks they can say “The DOW is up 100,000!”
It would work to fool republican voters.
Lately it feels like most of the job loss AI keeps promising is coming from inside the house…
The
phone calllosses were coming from INSIDE THE HOUSE!!!Makes me wonder if the spin on the bad jobs report will be that this is AI succeeding?
"But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got.”
I get what she’s saying, but like… It’s shouldn’t take a whole fucking lot of deliberation to be like “mass surveillance? Lethal autonomy? How about no”
