it can be books, video games,Movies,TV Shows, etc(though i will be focusing mainly on Video Games)
i wanted to ask long running/active since it would be more interesting.
i would love to hear your answers!
my attempt at the rules defining Active and Long Running
am also not sure the definition of long running/active.
maybe the last game(dlcs, updates and unreleased games dont count) should be from 1-3 years ago(or makes video games atleast every 1-3 years as of 2026), and the franchise should have first existed from atleast 2004-2006 or older i think.
it can also be that it says online that its still present
My list
so let me start:
franchise dates as of March 10,2026(if i dont say present it does not mean the franchise is dead)
Video games:
- Touhou Project(1997-2025): I love Touhou 18,good fanbase/fan content(for the most part atleast),good OST.
the bad thing tbh it used GenAI (its not as bad as it sounds though)
its franchise/video games are pretty Niche but good.
currently taking a hiatus (under the end of march/early April) but i will be back so am still including it here. - DOOM(1993-2025): well you guys know this ,DOOM 1 from 1993 and DOOM II are pretty good. but i prefer this open source version called FreeDOOM.(and put some TC mods on top of FreeDOOM)
the bad thing is the company behind it(Bethesda then Microsoft) - Asphalt(2004-2023): has been a while since i played any of its games, unsure .
like DOOM bad company good game
and thats what i remember
(i apologize if i posted this 3 times,my client glitched out )
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Star Trek
I’ve only played 3 of the total 20+ Yakuza/Like a Dragon series (Like a Dragon, Lost Judgement, and Infinite Wealth) but it is probably my favorite series that has been around a while. Shit’s like an anime soap opera for people my age. And they are LOOOOOOONG. I have almost 80 hours in Lost Judgement alone and according to the cards on my PS5, I am only 36% through the main story. 😳
Probably South Park
I don’t know anything that has managed to stay so relevant for so long with past episodes still holding up.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
I cannot remember a time in my life when the turtles were not a big part of it. I’m 42 and I’m wearing a TMNT seatbelt belt right now. I just spent a bunch of money on TMNT Magic cards because I want them, even though I’m not a big fan of the cross universe stuff. I have so many TMNT themed shirts.
And I love it all; the comics, the toys, all of the tv shows even the live action series, all of the games, and all of the movies. The only exception is the Michael Bay movies, they are pretty rough.
The latest movie and new show are good too.
Wolfenstein games have all been pretty solid. Youngblood wasn’t the best but I still got plenty of enjoyment from it.
Metal Gear is Metal Gear.
Twin Peaks’ perfect third season earns it a spot in my list too.
Space Station 14, while only being around five or six years, is still a continuation of Space Station 13 which has decades of culture and development built into it
Maybe a bit of a stretch but the Porsche 911 seems like a solid car for its whole lifetime, even if the modern ones are too big and heavy it’s cool they’re still rear engine
- Character: Sherlock Holmes: 1887 until present.
- Movie Franchise: Star Wars: 1977 until present, though the most recent stuff is really….just not my favorite
- TV Show still airing: The Pitt
- TV Show that has ended: MASH
- Video Games: God of War
though the most recent stuff is really….just not my favorite
Yeah makes sense(disney)
Mines been Fallout ever since 2001, when I found the OG Fallout game on sale and decided to give it a shot despite knowing nothing about it.
It’s had highs and lows, but I’m a big fan of the dark, but a little bit silly Wasteland.
Star trek, but obly the classic shows. Anything after Kurtzman took over has been unmitigated dog shit
Star Trek
The Legend of Zelda
For a show, I’d have choose One Piece right now. For video games I think I still have to say GTA, battlefield is up there for me as well.
Yeah, One Piece easily. I feel straight up privileged to have started watching it some 20 years ago and still enjoying it to this day.
I just started the series over, before I watched to just after episode 1000. It’s crazy how much love and effort has been put into the show imo.
Yeah it’s stunning. I’ve watched the early parts a few times and just started watching again from the start with a friend who fell in love with the live action version.
It opens up even more when you have more context, even if Oda “retconned” stuff, he has always been pretty good with it. He’s like the master of modular storytelling. And you have so much absolutely amazing things ahead of you!! Stoked for you!!
Actually I am right at this very moment waiting for my friend to finish dinner so we can watch the first ep of OPLA s2 :D
I truly think what’s blowing me away the most was how much was actually decided so early on. Like when Shanks saves Luffy and gives that sea monster a look, was that not the Haki look? Besides that, I can’t think of a piece of media that promotes mutual aid and freedom of choice more than one piece.
Gundam
Probably Middle Earth/The Lord of the Rings. (1937-2026)
Dark Souls. Feels too obvious and common now but they really used to be industry nobodies and learned great lessons from it over a very long period of time. I’ve never had anything stay present in my life for so long.
Evil Dead. I love the original trilogy, the TV show was awesome and the new ones are great as well. I wish there was a truly great videogame but what we have is fine, I guess.
The Simpsons
