Firearms are literally designed to kill, that is their function.
Everything will be taken advantage of by someone. We should just do nothing. Except that will get taken advantage of somehow so fuck it.
Or you put entirely reasonable checks and balances in place to filter out the bad actors, improving community safety and trust.
