I enjoyed the episodes, but (I guess this is spoiler discussion) I have to say that Vader not saying a word during the whole fight is not right.
And the worst is that it has to be a money problem, not a creative decision.
I don’t think it’s a money problem. The series was created by Filoni, the president and chief creative officer of Lucasfilm. Plus we’ve had Vader speak in Rebels, so he’s allowed to speak in animation. Plus getting Vader to speak at the moment is “free”. His voice got thrown into Fortnight or whatever.
The idea here was definitely to be the force of nature Vader, similar to how we see him at the end of Rogue One. You can’t talk to a force of nature and a force of nature doesn’t talk to you.
I could see Vader having a larger role in future seasons, and he might talk then, but for Maul’s first meeting against Vader in think this worked well.
Vader was voiced in Rebels, afaik by James Earl Jones, that is not possible now and I think I read somewhere that he gives permission to Lucasarts to recreate his voice, using ai or whatever, my guess is that permission will cost something to Disney.
It’s all guessing on my part, but Vader is there because Palpatine sent him to kill Maul. I think there is something to say. Lets see if there is some kind of interviews or something and someone say something about it
And so to me, the key is not to actually give him a character. He’s devoid of it because he doesn’t care. Darth Vader does not care. He does not have compassion. He does not see you. He sees the thing he wants to destroy, and he will do that. It’s like the same feeling you got in Rogue One when he comes down the hallway. He doesn’t talk to those guys. He’s going to destroy them. He has one mission, and all of his remorse and all of his anger and all of his hate is in every swing that he does. That’s how it’s resolved.

Another thing to consider is that we don’t really know young Darth Vader. Apart from his final moments in Revenge of the Sith, this show taking place about a year after, Vader might not be much of a talker yet. I think comics explore this a little more, but Vader may not be anything more than a ball of anger at the moment.
I’ll take it if Filoni says it is that way, still don’t think is the same. In Rogue One he is stepping over “ants”. Maybe they were trying to convey something like you said, and If I’m not the only one that finds weird that he doesn’t say a word, is because they failed in some way with the scene.
So when this series premiered I went back and I watched the Rebels season finale that featured Vader and based on the words Maul used I knew he had to meet up with and lose t Vader at some point. I thought it would be at or near the series finale.
Obviously we got him much sooner.
I still think Vader’s return is a possibility. So while I don’t necessarily want Maul and Vader meeting every season, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of him in this show.
Maul’s goal is to take down Sidious. I wouldn’t be surprised if Maul vs Vader plays out similarly to Luke vs Vader in Empire Strikes Back. Fight. Retreat. Fight. Retreat. I expect Maul + Devon will at some point have a slight edge against Vader. In that moment Vader might have something to say.
I don’t want this to feel like I’m against everything you say ;) , but I don’t think Vader is coming back. He is here to fill the gaps of the words Maul said in Rebels S2, and to allow Devon to cross to the Dark Side. Her master has to die, Maul betreayed him to add a cherry on top. My guess is that next season(s) we will see how Devon becames his pupil,. and how she discover the redention path and either die or just leave Maul. I have to wonder if the police Lawson is really dead, I don’t think so, he watched Maul’s betrayal when he pushed Devon’s master into Vader, he has to tell that story to Devon or by proxy.
It’s all guessing of course, Vader could be a prominent figure on S2, but I don’t think Filoni likes to abuse of his presence, he doesn’t like to use the canon characters as much as they are needed
As soon as I saw episode 10 listed without a title I knew it would be something big.
As soon as the Inquisitors said our group was heading “your way” there was only one man it could be.
RIP Master Daki, you put up a good fight against Vader, but we all knew how it would end.
I wonder if Devon will learn that Maul basically abandoned Daki. I wonder if she’ll care by the time she learns.
Also RIP Captain Lawson. I figured he might stick around more, but I guess Lawson Jr has more character to grow as a result.
Don’t forget the GOAT, RIP Spybot
Getting cut in half and burned didn’t kill Anakin, it won’t kill Spybot!
Spybot will return! (Plz)
I enjoyed this season more than I thought I would
The writing and dialog at the start was ropey and there was something very wrong with mauls voice, no English person actually sounds like that, weird, but in traditional style the story carried it through
Hoping daki can reach Devon from beyond in the next season
