I made a thing this morning from leftovers, it was good. I can’t imagine I’m the first. But I don’t get results from searching. Is it a thing and does it have a name?
I poured about 12 oz of milk (last of the carton) into my big flat pan, and a little packet of brown sugar from a coffee place, like a spoonful? And a little sprinkle of cinnamon. I heated it on medium, stirring constantly to prevent scorching the bottom, until some of the liquid steamed away. Just as it came to a boil, I dumped in the leftover tortilla chips from last night and stirred to coat them thoroughly, taking the pan off the heat. Salty and sweet, crunchy and mushy, a guilty pleasure with my coffee.
I found chilaquiles blancos but they’re spicy. Arroz con leche is rice. And Cinnamon Chips are dry, also seems to usually be wheat flour rather than corn/maíz. And of course there’s cornflakes and milk, but they’re cold and not salty or cinnamony.
If I’d thought of this when my kids were kids I’d have made it for them. And if I hadn’t eaten it right away I would have taken a picture. The ingredients/flavor feel Mexican but I don’t speak Spanish.
Your thoughts?
The closest thing I can think of is Atole.
