I was looking at my canned goods and thinking “I have 7 quarts of chili left. If I eat it I may never be able to replace it because of the cost of ground beef. I should make cornbread.”
I wanted chili but was out so I ended up pairing it with vegetable soup.

I make cornbread all the time, and would never consider cooking it in anything other than a cast iron. Does your recipe call for pre-heating the pan?
