Europe “lost” Nokia? Nokia employs about 80 thousand people and is listed under the eurostoxx50. It is the third largest network equipment manufacturer after Huawei and Cisco. Does this sound like a failure?

Truly a sweaty vote decision on this post. On the one hand, Lemmy hates AI. On the other hand, Lemmy loves European Digital Sovereignty

It’s not about LLMs. Startups involved in quantum computing and data science are mentioned.

He’s talking specifically about AI, so no quantum or data science. Europe shouldn’t be joining this deathtrap, there’s no power capacity to do so and AI isn’t a revolution it proclaim to be

The linked article is not about LLMs. Startups involved in quantum computing and data science are mentioned. I hope that clarifies my previous statement.

So what you call “AI” these days?

“Think about how dependent we’ll be on the large AI providers in a few years’ time, when most of our processes will be at least partially run by AI,” he told attendees of last week’s INNOVA summit at Aalto University in Espoo. “If somebody can influence us by a ‘kill switch’, that’s a problem.”

Article doesn’t say anything about data science at all, all it says is europe should rely on US when it comes to AI(LLMs) and quantum is one way to split from AI race but quantum and AI are 2 totally different things since quantum does not develop anything remotely close resembling AI

Why does everyone see AI as a race? Can’t we just have a good old-fashioned space race instead? It’d be way less expensive.
