The population of California is mostly progressive, but the Neoliberals have had a stranglehold on the governorship, Senate, and Assembly for decades due to the scores of billionaires buying the elections as well as good old fashioned cronyism and a party machine that depends on the aforementioned privileged leeches for the legal bribes to keep it going.
