“Leveragism” is a term I made up, and it describes what the American economy is increasingly heading towards. As you will see, this is really bad news.

capitalism is not the “rules as they are written” it’s what the capitalist actually do, and often the rules follow from what they want, not the other way around. this fetishization of “correct capitalism” or the FDR politics is gross. the reason FDR era ended in the 1970s is because decolonisation (and the start of neo-colonial rule) wasn’t a 1940s thing, it happened in the 1960s and 70s and somehow this modicum of nationalisation and autonomy collapsed the western economies (although the oil shock in particular was far more disastrous for developing countries).

this whole video is a minefield full of these asinine statements. privacy liberalism is not radical, no matter how much you try to vibe your way into making people think you are an anarchist.

the thumbnail of this put me off watching it so i’ll comment on benn generally

he’s some kind of liberal libertarian is the best i can come up with. he’s not a left-lib like deviant ollam, but he’s not a hog either. he believes in america in that naive way white liberals do. glazes cops in some of his anti-surveillance videos which is kinda wild.

the technical info is good and his projects are cool but somebody should trick him into learning some theory

I don’t live in u.s. (everyday i realise than God was merciful upon me for that) but what i could notice in this video is not a direct critic or a informative video essay, it was more a compilation of a sad nostalgia for a simple time where he grew up with more hope in the world and the things used to be more positive, because we didn’t have access to the information we have now
