The tldr;
- someone face-planted on a gravel driveway.
- someone else tripped on a pavement and cut her arm
- someone else fell, broke her wrist and cut her face.
- someone else broke her phone and grazed her knee
- someone else’s hem got caught in the teeth of an escalator and it pulled the trousers down to her thighs.
These are only examples, there are many more videos on social media of people tripping and been left battered and bruised.
Do you prefer to not get injured? Do not buy the Zara death pants.

I don’t think I could have kept a straight face if the escalator one happened in front of me.
I’m laughing just thinking about it.
Wide-legged and flowing, they are causing a storm on social media, with people posting videos of the fabric getting caught in escalators and causing painful trips.
Have skirts not been a thing before?
Some people’s parents didn’t teach them to fear and respect the escalator.
I hope her pants get caught and a bloodbath ensues!
This a symptom of a society who didnt see LiveLeak escalator accidents growing up
Usually people don’t drag their skirt on the ground like the cuffs of those pants. It’s a stupid design, the way to make them work is to model them after Japanese Hakama pants, but use lighter material.
Uh, you are aware that until recently, skirts actually had a hem, a removable/replaceable section of cloth at the bottom, specifically meant to touch the ground so a woman’s feet weren’t visible, right?
There are also entire cultural/religious outfits that to this day still touch the ground that are worn daily.
Just because its not a common sight where you are doesn’t mean it isn’t a thing any were else.
Until recently, when escalators became more of a thing, because it’s a stupid fucking design to be dragging your clothes on the ground.
There are also entire cultural/religious outfits that to this day still touch the ground that are worn daily.
No, there are still clothing designs that incorporate hems that touch the ground.
So what exactly is happening when people wear these danger-pants? Apparently the voluminous fabric gets wrapped around itself, as well as the wearer’s ankles and feet, causing them to trip.
Surely that’s always going to be an issue with this kind of very baggy design? That’s what stylist Clare Chambers told the Metro. “The wider the leg, the more likely it is to get caught and wrapped around the opposite leg/foot causing the wearer to trip and fall,” she said.
…get caught and wrapped around the opposite leg/foot…
I see. The tripping issue comes from the interior leg fabric. That makes a little more sense.
Not sure but usually a skirt does not touch the floor.
Back in the day they did though, when it was fashionable
Yess death to the flowy extra baggy ridiculous trash bag pants.
This is stupid. My JNCO Jeans back in the 90’s would drag behind me everywhere I went. Water from puddles, bits of crap from the ground, literal crap from the ground, my JNCO Jeans picked it ALL up. I carried that shit with me, I didn’t care, I looked cool as shit. When I went to the mall (Mall; noun: an ancient place of commerce) and got on the escalator, I hiked my jeans up so that the puddley excrement skimmed against my bare shins, and I wouldn’t get sucked down by the demons.
Fashion is cyclical I guess, but stupidity remains constant.
While we’re on fashion, I will see your JNCOs and raise you Iori Yagami’s pants complete with straitjacket strap connecting both legs:

…Because when the hell else am I ever going to be able to trot out that piece of trivia? You know, perfect for a guy who kicks people for a living.
I still miss my JNCOs, though. Imagine my surprise to learn that they’re apparently still around.

They’re having a real comeback with the youths right now!
I wore UFOs back in high school, maybe 2002 or so. I wore one pair in particular, very lightweight, to woodshop one day, and stood too close to the fan for the surface planar, and it sucked my pants right in. The teacher had a heart attack, but fortunately I was unharmed, but basically pantsless.
This article is probably an ad.
Idk these are basically a long skirt. So the risks are the same as a skirt.
Oh my god haha. Just hem them so they aren’t too long and treat them like a long skirt.
Seriously. I’m a man but my mother and grandmother decided to teach me to sow as a kid for reasons they never explained in life. The first thing I thought was that this is just a skirt with extra seams, act accordingly. The second was that these women aren’t getting their clothes fitted and hemmed, as one should always do.
Basic sewing is such an important skill! Everyone should at least know how to sew a hem and replace a button.
I am saddened by the steep decrease in sewing machine quality. I wish I had kept my mother’s and grandmother’s Singers after they passed. Built to last multiple lifetimes without snapping a thread or missing a stitch.
Same here, my mother had one of those Singer machines that folded down into a desk when it was not in use. Beautiful piece of equipment!
Keep an eye out for used machines. There’s plenty out there.
They look pretty fuckin nice, admittedly.
Found the Gen X or, alternatively, Gen Z
😄🫶
That 30–40 year fashion cycle never fails
But yeesh, I think they look like dogwater. Clothes look best when they fit the shape of the human, imo. Anything else just looks like a walking curtain to me.
Lmao close but not exactly
Well now you got me curious 😄
Maybe these pants just attract fucking idiots…
I’ve done this with fairly standard wide leg pants, nothing like what’s shown, I think the silky fabric is what the actual problem was. I sprained two fingers and ate it hard in front of probably hundreds of people at a concert
Why is the article formatted that way
Reason: Trying out something new.
I guess these people film themselves doing mundane things so often that they happened to catch these accidents.
Is it possible they just bought the pants too long?
Women’s pants usually come in only one type of size (e.g. small, medium or large) and you can’t adjust for height, unlike with men’s pants. So if you’re a woman and you start getting fat, you’d better also growing upwards too!
Buy my Death Pants… Suckers!
What the hell is the format of this article? It’s like someone wrote an outline and then just published that.
No different than the corsets of the 18/1900s, those probably killed more from asphyxiation, punchered lungs, and crushed organs.
Women just like to live dangerously, also fashion is stupid.
Nope, corsets were not anywhere near the hazard people like to characterize them as. They were essentially a combined shapewear and bra, and most women achieved those exaggerated silhouettes with padding, not tightening things. The materials corsets were made of back then (whale balleen, paper, reeds, ribbons, cording and sometimes a wooden busk) weren’t puncturing anyone’s lungs. It was just a popular past time of men in the day to ridicule and belittle women for their fashion choices, a time honored tradition that continues to this day.
Fashion contains a lot of things that are intrinsic to the human experience.
It can provide protection, practicality like pockets and bags for carrying items, non-verbal communication, disguising or bolstering one’s identity, etc.
Men also enjoy fashions that are not practical on first view.
Utility and fashion are not the same most times, especially “fashion” shows. These pants are stupid and dangerous and serve no utility purpose other than looking flowy. They could be adjusted to be safe and the light flowy feeling won’t go away.
Of course mens fashion is stupid too if its dangerous. I dont discriminat stupid.
Utility and fashion are not the same most times, especially “fashion” shows.
Tell me you’ve never watched a variety of fashion shows without telling me.
You did discriminate by singling out women. You didn’t have to punch down like that at all.
I addressed the image. If there were men wearing them in the image or story I would have addressed that too.
Women just like to live dangerously, also fashion is stupid.
Come on, you can’t accept you made a generally insensitive and sexist comment and just edit it out or something? You have to double down?
No I can’t because it wasn’t. I was comparing two dangerous womens garments. You meanwhile haven’t provided one dangerous mens garment as a counterpoint.
I’m not debating you on this.
Meanwhile men who insist on cargo shorts and flip flops to go with ill-fitting graphic t-shirts complain that women don’t find them attractive and turn into incels.
And is it a dangerous outfit that could injur themselves? This isn’t exactly an apples to apples comparison.
Because that’s not the comparison being made.
