He’s right about Ice being the American Gestapo (An immoral group that thrives on bigotry and hatred)

But claiming MOST cops are good when not even half of them are. (Even his most tantamount predecessor Alfred Hitchcock feared the police, and for good reason too.)

When we say ACAB, it’s not a commentary on the character of individual pigs, but rather an acknowledgement that individual character is irrelevant in a corrupt system.

How many honest cops does it take to change a light bulb? Honest cops have never changed anything.

That being said, ICE obviously has hired from a pool of people who are too violent, incompetent, or stupid to become your regular neighborhood pig. They really are something much worse.

Idk I think willingly participating in a system that is openly corrupt, violent, and racist kinda says some stuff about a person’s character as an individual. I think the only good cops are honest enough about their jobs to leave the force.

A lot of people believe that they can change the system from the inside. It doesn’t make them bad people. Mislead maybe, but not bad. What makes them bad is prolonged existence in the system that is purposefully built to break or push out anyone who doesn’t fit. But that takes time.

The road to hell is built on good intentions… I don’t think your intentions really matter if you partake in the same actions to get in on the inside.

Wtf, I read “rare … W” before reading your comment for exactly the reason you stated. And wanted to comment that saying most cops are good is whitewashing. Brain is sometimes really strange.

I believe he also followed that up by explaining he meant there wasn’t a document that was a literal “list“

It was only a week ago or so that he was hoping that Graham Platner stayed in the race for Senate. “Rare” does seem to be overselling it.

I’ve had to rethink a lot of my opinions in light of the Epstein situation, the response to trum, and AI. Where once I thought I was just a magnet for the survivors of sexual abuse, I now have to accept that it’s far, far more prevalent and it the fact that every person I’ve ever met being a sexually assaulted as a child isn’t an anomaly.

In light of that, I can no longer argue that King’s sexual content was his way of pushing the envelope. The notorious scene in IT is an obvious example. I found it odd when I read The Girl Who Loves Tom Gordon, that he would dedicate so much detail to how a girl should piss and wipe in the woods or the relief she feels washing her ass in the creek after giving herself disemntary. I now have no choice but to accept that it was as close as he was allowed to get to fondling her on the page.

It’s hard to like things these days.

Ehh, most individual cops I’ve interacted with have been completely decent (although there are several exceptions), but because there are systemic issues, it doesn’t matter how good the individuals are.

I certainly believe one can have that experience, but I’ve had several bad interactions with cops even as a white dude. Ranging from them being dismissive/rude dickheads, to one cop trying to start a fucking fight with me. I used to think most were decent until I had more than a couple bad interactions with them. I think the job just attracts overly aggressive/cocky pricks. You wanna believe that the motivation is normally improving society but I don’t think it usually is tbh.

He’s a white guy from Maine, that’s probably his experience. He should find out what other people’s experiences are before making a sweeping statement like that because he’s definitely wrong, but I’m not exactly surprised that that’s what he thinks.
