I was just (shower) thinking to myself that humans must be all the chimps that couldn’t help but chase some random thing out of the jungle and into the plains/Savannah/desert and were lucky or smart enough to survive. All while the other chimps were happy to chill.
From my understanding it’s not that they left the jungle, rather the jungle dried up around them over time.
That makes sense! My shower thought was no more than a brain fart and was at most symbolic or allegorical about human nature.
I think all other animals are also anxious, in their case to find food, shelter and not get eaten
so are most humans, certainly many billion. 9 million of us a year die of starvation.
As to anxious, Myanmar, Ethiopia, Iran, Ukrainian etc. having bombs dropped on you. Fuck, you can be fishing in the Caribbean and some asshole sends a missile to make your day shitty

Some ADHD people have it easier than others. But for me, I struggle with relationships and socialization the most.

Nah, wifey and me don’t save for “later”. We retired like 30yrs ago after having tried some jobs. It was just not our thing. Will we drown in money in “official” retirement (if we even reach the age of 67) Probably not, but we already lived that life so far and it seemed like a better deal than saving a lot just to maybe enjoy it somewhere in the distant future. Also we were fit enough to actually enjoy all the time. Traveling, hobbies, chilling…
My dad worked his ass off, spent most of it while doing so, ended up with nothing and didn’t know what to do with all the sparetime after being retired. Died a year of boredom later. I never wanted to end that sad and pathetic.

It was sad to watch, but I was already 20yrs retired before he even thought about it. And called me lazy for that lol. He was a well conditioned boomer-worker-bee. Yet didn’t even manage a boomer-house by then. But still, life was all about working. Just because.

Probably never going to retire, can’t afford it and I probably won’t live that long. I have retirement accounts but they’re more of long term savings for emergency needs. No way I’d be able to save up the tens of thousands of dollars I’d need to catch up even if I got a higher paying job.
I feel this. been unemployed for two years now and older. Can’t wait to be berated for not saving enough for retirement. Its really getting to a why bother point or really past it.
Because right now I’m tired and a nap sounds like the most amazing thing I could be spending my time on. Laying, being still, in a slightly chill room, with a sheet or blanket… it’s just so comfortable.
