she was one of the reasons I thought folks were nuts to not vote for kamala. Just keeping the administration with its great people was enough for me. Especially when the alternative was what we have now.

People are so dumb when it comes to voting. It really has become sport team mentality.

Trump has 0 platform, no plans, nothing. But he said he’d punch brown kids or something and everyone liked that I guess

Yeah I feel people are looking at something over arching which sure is a thing for your philosophy and direction but when it comes down to the vote every election has to be looked at in terms of the options you have for it. Voting in the primaries is different than the general and you can get active to influence who is on the primary ballot. I really think its the lazy voters who getinto 5D complex strategies of diggin deeper to get back above ground.

Agreed Kamala wasn’t a great choice but she was the better realistic option in this election.

I definitely wanna support third party voting and trying to fix the whole two party dominance but people are unrealistic and exaggerate massively about it. Libertarian party is completely a joke, Green party seems okay but I don’t like Jill Stein, the PSL looks good on paper but their desire to totally overhaul the entire system is unrealistic when they can’t even nab a few local elections.

This also was not the election to play those games with in my opinion. McCain vs Obama was probably a far better time for all that, but hindsight is 20/20 so I can’t really blame them all

That all said, vote Vermin Supreme. I want my damn unicorn

When it comes down to it republicans are just to dangerous. They have abandoned any semblence of principles. They literally have to go and we need the dems to split or just like the greens gain a lot or such. It just aint going to happen until republicans lose again and again and again. I mean its not like we will get massive left from the dems but it won’t have total nuttiness. I agree with kamala. Not my cup of tea but she was vice president and would have been president if joe had died at some point. I loved the biden administration because of what all got accomplished in one term and wanted to see it continue. I think its a testament to what he got done by how quickly trump reversed everything he could from it and managed to be more scared and obsessed of him than obama. It still drives me mad to wonder about how different the world would be if the hanging chads thing had went the other way.

The big thing that made me enjoy the Biden administration was boring the news cycle was. It’s what gives me confidence that Trump isn’t this big bad end of all things people try to spell him out to be. It’ll take one, maybe two decent presidents for things to at least be okay.

Yeah we have massive hurdles ahead of us as a country and species with climate change, food insecurities and the technological revolution that’s constantly blasting forward but I trust what history teaches me, things will just keep plodding on.

Although I do wonder if trump could be the actual antichrist. Like Jesus christ if you built this character into a show or something it would feel unbelievable.

im a doomer soo. for me not so much. I also think obama in two terms really could not get us back to where we were before bush jr. and biden could not get us back to after bush jr. levels with trump1 and trump2 is waaaayyyyy more destructive. I mean I think it will take a term just to get gov agencies back being run by professionals and another to start getting things good. We will need like two good presidents in a row that go two terms each to even get back to zero at a minimum. If trump is impeached in 2027.

Good. She seems great. If only we had her at a higher level to break up mega corps like Microsoft and Facebook.

Along with Khan’s new role, Mamdani said former deputy mayor and city official Anthony Shorris would lead the EDC as CEO. Along with his 25 years of public service, he has spent 15 years in the academic and non-profit realms, also recently becoming a partner at McKinsey & Co.

Never heard of this guy. Doesn’t McKinsey suck?

      Wtf are you blathering about?

Khan’s job was to rein in corporations that break the law by, amongst other things, forming trusts that harm the economy by their anticompetitive practices.

Sounds like YOU’RE the one who cares more about your ideology of laissez faire corporatism than actual facts, law, and economic outcomes.

That was Khan’s job, correct. That’s not what she did though. She went after companies that she objected to because of her ideologies, not because they broke the law. She absolutely destroyed the FTC by going after obvious losing cases just to make a point. The FTC basically lost everything they did under her, because she instructed them to go after unwinnable cases. All of their best lawyers and employees left because of her chasing ideologies over law.

The culmination of all of this was the absolute embarrassment of the FTC vs Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard King. They literally got laughed out of court and dragged across the coals because of how bad their case was. Her position was untenable after that years long joke.

That’s not what she did though

          It very much was.

She went after companies that she objected to because of her ideologies

If you consider “use and abuse every trick in the book to obtain unfair advantages over your competitors” an ideology, sure.

not because they broke the law

That’s objectively false. They did. Just because they have an army of lawyers and corrupt politicians claiming otherwise DOESN’T mean that they didn’t engage in corrupt and illegal practices. They did.

          She absolutely destroyed the FTC

Nope, that’s the Republicans’ job, which they do very effectively.

by going after obvious losing cases just to make a point

Fixed it for you. The point she was making being “nobody is above the law and nor should they be”

The FTC basically lost everything they did under her, because she instructed them to go after unwinnable cases.

Again, patently untrue. Please stop lying to further your agenda. That’s what you have politicians for.

All of their best lawyers and employees left because of her chasing ideologies over law.

          STOP. LYING.

The culmination of all of this was the absolute embarrassment of the FTC vs Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard King

Embarrassing, yes, but not in the way you’re implying.

The fact that such a grotesquely immense merger of companies already dominating the market and actively subsuming and destroying most major competition was allowed proved to anyone that still had a shadow of a doubt that the US courts have any interest in enforcing and upholding antitrust law.

They literally got laughed out of court and dragged across the coals because of how bad their case fundamentally corrupt the legal system was

          Fixed it for you.

            What a load of bollocks.

Your ideology is showing through. Microsoft “dominate” the video game console market do they? In what metric?

“No one is above the law” is great - but that doesn’t mean you waste hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars suing big companies over nothing just to show they’re not above the law! Doing so just makes the FTC, and khan especially, look like a joke. It looks like they have no idea what the actual laws are. When your case gets thrown out while the judge and every legal expert laughs at how stupid you are, that hurts your credibility. It hurts the taxpayer. It hurts any future cases you bring, even ones where laws were broken.

Tell me which laws you think the MS/ABK acquisition broke and why. Microsoft were a distant, distant, last place in the market. Their own competitors, the ones that Khan said would be driven out of the industry if it went ahead, were on record saying they’re not at all worried and that it would not affect them lol

Since the acquisition went through, how is xbox looking? They must be the market leader by now, right? PlayStation and Nintendo on the verge of shutting up shop, right?

              Your ideology is showing through.

Because reality has a left wing bias.

Microsoft “dominate” the video game console market do they? In what metric?

Having a market share difference of 70 to 30 percent when compared to main rival Sony would be considered “dominant” to anyone who knows about numbers and what they mean.

“No one is above the law” is great

I have a feeling you’re about to contradict yourself soon…

but that doesn’t mean you waste hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars suing big companies

              There we go!

              over nothing

LITERALLY the opposite of reality. Are you willfully ignorant or just fundamentally dishonest?

Because those are the only two possibilities for not realizing that the forming of such mega-conglomerations in order to further dominate the competition is against both the spirit and the letter of antitrust law.

to show they’re not above the law

SOMEONE has to, when both (but especially one) of the major parties are busy pretending that the opposite is the case.

It looks like they have no idea what the actual laws are

Nope. You’re spouting the opposite of reality again.

One more colossally blatant lie like that and I’ll stop wasting my time arguing in good faith when you clearly aren’t.

every legal expert laughs at how stupid you are

And there’s my cue. Have the day you deserve.

I’m sorry, did you just say that XBOX has a 70/30 split dominant position over PlayStation? Is that really what you think?

You’ve got your figures backwards lol. The CMA, the only other authority that opposed the merger, had Xbox at roughly 30-40% of the “high end gaming console” market. PlayStation is the one at 70%, not Xbox.

                https://sqmagazine.co.uk/console-market-share-statistics/

                • In the UK, the Competition and Markets Authority assessed PlayStation at roughly 60-70% and Xbox at 30-40% of dedicated home-console unit sales for the 2019 to 2022 reference period.

Since then that number has skewed even higher in Sonys favour, even after the acquisition.

Your entire argument is based on you getting your market share figures backwards 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I find it quite hilarious that you’re still defending Microsoft’s Blizzard/Activision acquisition years after its become obvious that it was horribly destructive for almost everyone.

They have laid off tens of thousands of developers (3,200 just this month even). They have closed at least a dozen studios since the acquisition. They have canceled dozens of games that were in development, either from those studios, from their other studios that remain, or games that they were going to publish for independent studios like Romero Games. Game prices have increased, game pass has gotten more expensive. Sony and Nintendo have raised their prices because the market has less competition.

Literally every bad thing everyone predicted would happen has happened. None of the good things the exectuvies promised have happened, except a handful of them made a ton of money and retired.

You’re wrong on most things here. Pretty much everything actually.

They laid of 1600 from across the whole of Microsoft, not 3200 from ABK.

They haven’t closed “at least a dozen studios since the acquisition”. Please list the 12+ studios that they have closed.

Please list the 24+ games from ABK that they have cancelled.

You think Sony and Nintendo raised their prices because Microsoft bought ABK and therefor there’s less competition? What? ABK weren’t a console maker lol.

You literally just made all of that up.

You seem to be having a real bitchup about the Blizzard case, which is a very minor case relative to the grocery, drug, and social media cases the FTC pursued under her tenure. Do you have any real examples of her failings beyond your sweatnecked mishigos over your cherished “muh gammies companies~”?
