Outside of the US, almost all elevated pedestrian bridges either have accessibility ramps or elevators.

Other states pay for it. Most likely funds from wealthy states like California that went to the federal government and then back to southern shitholes like Arkansas. Just guessing.

Reason: BigotryI mean, kinda? Sounding like a coastal elite really isn’t necessary, and for the most part, other states don’t pay for AK’s roads. Much of it is through state & local taxes, some through federal fuel tax, and the rest through direct Federal spending.

I’ll admit to being the one that submitted the report. Tbh, your comment wasnt nearly as bad as OP above you, and I probably got kinda heavy with the report button by including your (as Davel pointed out) slightly ill-informed comment in with the above post.
As a southerner, I find online spaces like this rarely recognize bigotry against the southern US and rural areas. I’ve had this conversation a handful of times on Lemmy over the years, but as a former Louisianan, I’m sure you’ve heard your fair share of “do you wear shoes?” and the like.

Absolutely no problem. I tried to make it sound a bit “tounge in cheek” by using Trump’s “shithole” term, but it didn’t really translate into text without giving the context of where I am from and still have plenty of family in.

Don’t get me started…although it’s fairly accurate if you are from Cutoff, Louisiana (/jk). If there is one thing that’s true pretty much across the board, at least for many of us from Southern Louisiana (where my coonasses at?), it’s complaining about how shit everything is. All that said, I want to make a few positive points for the non-souther folk.
- I am a person of color (very mixed) and yet I NEVER experienced racism like I did when I moved to a primarily white suburban areabof Austin, Texas.
- While in the dirty south, we were all in rhe shitter together, so life was a lot mire neighborly. People helped you out. People shared, even though they had nothing. I found the opposite in Austin.
I liked Austin a lot, and the people there were great, just cold and distant to someone from the bayou (Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes). One of the things I’ll never for give the GOP for is the poisoning of the minds and hearts of some of rye best and kindest people I have ever known. /rant
