When people said that DS9 and B5 were similar I didn’t realize they were referring to the coffee mugs.
What always struck me was how futuristic they were trying to be by using a coffee mug that was everywhere at the time.
Half my coworkers had that mug
The Expanse spray-painted a Thule rooftop carrier as a prop of major significance and the subreddit exploded with sightings.
My fave was seeing an original DMG gameboy as a scanner in SGA
When was that?
I just remember Sheppard using a DS, though he is clearly playing games with it.

Early early - like rising or hide and seek iirc. McKay has one
I just skipped around the first several episodes and didn’t see that.
I did see this post on /r/thatsabooklight
[TV] Stargate Atlantis [2004] Lifesigns detector was a iPaq pocket PC with a silicone cover

Nah, it’s definitely a gameboy i’m thinking of. Those horizontal ridges on the back are a dead giveaway. Will cap next time I watch.
Hahahahaha, omg that’s awesome
I’m always wondering: how hard is it to drink the last drops?
Pretty easy, if it’s the one I’ve seen before. The interior of the mug is just a standard cylinder, but the base is broad for stability.
Wow you just described my body type
Hey, don’t wanna go falling over now… Weebles knew what they were doing.
I think this is a Chekov episode. (Mind War)
Could also be a Broccoli episode (“The Long Dark”)
You Buster believe it!
“Ambassador! While I was out there, I saw something. What was it?”
“What is this?”
“An ant.”
“Ant.”
“So much gets shipped up from Earth on commercial transports it’s hard to keep them out.”
“I have just picked it up on the tip of my glove. If I put it down again, and it asks another ant, ‘What was that?,’ how would it explain? There are things in the universe billions of years older than either of our races. They’re vast, timeless, and if they’re aware of us at all, it is as little more than ants, and we have as much chance of communicating with them as an ant has with us. We know, we’ve tried, and we’ve learned that we can either stay out from underfoot or be stepped on.”
“That’s it? That’s all you know?”
“Yes, they are a mystery. And I am both terrified and reassured to know that there are still wonders in the universe, that we have not yet explained everything. Whatever they are, Miss Sakai, they walk near Sigma 957, and they must walk there alone.”
This is it, exactly.
I misread the thumbnail and thought that was Fred Armisen.
Which makes me wonder if humans have a normative look about them on the show; if actors with exaggerated features get shunted into alien roles to make the most of what they have and also not to confuse the audience (“is he supposed to be human or do those ears indicate an alien species and a low budget?”) Who is the freakiest looking human actor in Star Trek?
Who is the freakiest looking human actor in Star Trek?
Meaning that the character is a human? Or are you asking which actors are freaky looking?
Because Doug Jones is often typecast as aliens and whatnot due to his slender frame.

How about Ted Cassidy? He was the gorn voice, the guard android in What are Little Girls Made Of, the puppet voice in Corbomite Maneuver and also Lurch in the old Addams family show.

Yeah, actor playing a human character.
Doug Jones is like Gary Oldman, a guy you’ve seen a million times without noticing it was the same person but once you recognize him, you see him everywhere. Gary Oldman has just his acting to hide himself, Doug Jones is freakishly recognizable through all his makeup.

Honestly though, I thought his performance was one of the most consistently excellent across all of ST:DISCO. Many of the other actors were a bit all over the place, but I am actually struggling to think of an episode where I was genuinely frustrated or annoyed with Jones’s acting.
Guess everyone else got the same YouTube suggestion for the same mug video?
