Politicians are telling you they’re not banning older cars. We uncovered their secret plans. They’re just making it more expensive, more restricted, and more of a pain in the backside to keep the one you already paid for, until most of you finally give up and buy a new vehicle. That is the quiet playbook unfolding right now in California, Massachusetts, Illinois, and a growing list of other states, and almost nobody in the auto media is willing to say it out loud.
Older car ownership is under attack by new vehicle regulations designed to price you out of your current ride.
We discuss the quiet playbook being used in states like California, New York, Colorado, Illinois and Massachusetts to force drivers into new vehicles. While politicians claim they are not outright banning older cars, the reality is a strategy of increased costs and restrictions that make keeping a paid-off vehicle nearly impossible. If you are frustrated by the rising cost of driving and feel like the system is rigged against you, watch this video.
Most auto media outlets refuse to address how these car restrictions are being implemented behind the scenes. The specific policy shifts are causing these new regulations. Understanding how these mandates work is essential for anyone who wants to maintain their own vehicle rather than buying new.

That’s a lot of words to still not bother listing what’s supposedly happening.
And no, I’m not interested in a video.
I’m with you, I have zero interest in watching a video where words get the point across easier. Gimme an article to peruse any day
This is libertarian bullshit. In the UK we have had annual safety inspections for decades. It’s called an MOT. They check to make sure your car is safe to drive, and as it’s your car, you have to pay to fix it if it’s faulty. If you fail your MOT then your mandatory insurance is void and you will face legal repercussions if you’re caught driving without insurance. Cars are fucking dangerous enough with out having faulty brakes or bad wheel bearings or whatever, and of course you have to use approved parts because it’s safer. I’ve been to states many times and I’ve always been bemused by some of the absolute shitheaps that you see getting driven around, doors falling off, no bonnet/hood, no fucking brake lights, bald tyres. You would not be able to drive that shit over here because cars like that are death traps. Tbh it’s about time the US caught up on this shit. It’s not about coercing people into buying new cars, it’s to stop people getting needlessly hurt and property getting destoyed.
