Got bullied for being gay, overweight and not being “manly” in so many ways.

Now as an out trans lesbian I instead deal with gay and straight men hitting on me, get hated on by my fat fam for being “too skinny” and people will go out of their way to call me something masculine.

Other people always sucked, at least I like me and the people I keep close are more genuine too.

Aside from the obvious dysphoria related to hair length and gender perceptions (if you’re a transfem egg, being expected to have your hair cut short, or if transmasc, being expected to keep it long), going to the hairdressers/barbers is an intensely gendered experience overall. Being perceived as a man results in wildly different treatment compared to being perceived as a woman in that environment, both in how your hair/head are physically treated/handled and in the social aspect of expected small talk/chatter. Many eggs and closeted trans folks find it an unbearable experience as a result.
