Interviewer: So what happened in this case?
melon-musk : Well the front axle fell off in this case, by all means, but it’s very unusual.

Interviewer: But Elon why did the front axle of the car fall off?
melon-musk: Well it hit a pothole.

      Interviewer: It hit a pothole?
melon-musk: The car hit a pothole.

      Interviewer: Is that unusual?
melon-musk: Oh yeah! On Amerikkkan roads? Chance in a million!

Given that they mention it was a “large, water-filled” pothole, my guess is that it’s a similar situation to cybertrucks getting bricked when you drive them through a car wash, but somehow even more stupid.

Sometimes they include irrelevant details. A car that can’t get even a little bit wet sounds even worse than a car that falls apart when you hit a large pothole. Either way pretty ridiculous.

It’s all fun and games on earth. But imagine being an astronaut in a Elon spacecraft heading towards Mars. You’ve passed the point of no return when you learn Elon told the engineers to use plain old earth glue because it was cheaper and good enough. But the best estimates are the ship will have a rapid unscheduled disassembly before it lands. Also - Elon won’t anybody say a word even as text to their loved ones. Damn “pothole”.

Sorry. It was going to be a silly joke but it got grim.
