  • just one more decapitation strike bro

In a coincidence - I just read a Max Boot article and it was even worse than I expected. It was laughable. I’m older than Boot and I’ve been hearing this shit and reading about America’s overwhelming military advantages™ for fucking decades. AI could write the shit. There must be literally billions and billions and billions and billions of words AI has access to that it could plagiarize from and put in the prompt rightwing pundit hack justifies American war of aggression.

The United States has leveraged its technological advantage to full effect against Iran, admittedly a second-rate adversary. But even in such a one-sided conflict, there are sharp limits to what airpower alone can accomplish.

    […]

Though the U.S. military is the best in the world, America’s political leadership leaves much to be desired.

    […]

There is no easy fix for the problem of incompetent political leaders who recklessly fritter away America’s overwhelming military advantages in unnecessary “excursions” premised on wishful thinking. That deficiency can be remedied only at the ballot box.

Because Trump is a wartime president Boot’s criticisms are muted and kind of hilarious to me.

Trump’s management of this conflict has been woefully and predictably deficient.

    Ya don’t say!

    Britain

Some people in Britain call the pies made with beef “cottage pies” and those with lamb, “shepherd’s pies”. The major supermarkets do so, and the distinction is backed by some reference works.

    Other authorities…

Other authorities and cooks and food writers including Prue Leith, Caroline Waldegrave and John Ayto regard the two names as completely interchangeable. Jane Grigson’s 1974 recipe for shepherd’s pie uses beef, and mentions that it is “sometimes called” “cottage pie”.

In Australia, Canada, and the US

In Australia, Canada, and the US, “shepherd’s pie” is a common term for a dish of any meat covered in mashed potato. Food retailers in those countries apply the term “shepherd’s pie” to beef-filled pies as well as those containing lamb.

I was going to read the page but then I realized it goes on and on and on.
