As someone who now lives near a data center I can verify the noise sucks. Hell moved in next door.

There are two disturbing the peace. One is close to 2 miles away. The other is about 1 mile. Yes, they are that loud. We can hear them throughout our house with all windows and doors shut.

          Ouch! Thanks for the reply.

2 soundwave sources is extra bad.

If you took Physics in high school or college, two wave sources can form constructive interference, i.e. where the two wave crests meet, the energy of two waves combine to make a larger wave.

So with two sound wave sources, their volume adds together.

The residents are stuck between a rock and a hard place:

Join the lawsuit and live with data center’s unhealthy noise for years before an uncertain payout. Meanwhile their home’s value is devastated because it’s near a datacenter.

Or sell for the market value offer from xAI, which isn’t great, and uproot themselves at their own expense. If only compensation and moving costs were included in the offer…
