It is presenting him as a demon, linking this with his Bolshevism and Jewishness. It is accentuating stereotypes about Jewish physical appearance while doing so. It is also playing on the proto-fascist fear at the time of the Judeo-Bolsheviks leading the ‘asiatic/mongol hordes’ of ‘barbarians’ to bring down ‘civilized’ Europe.
