Avatar is a lemming in bed because this account wasn’t intended to be used except for creating communities… and then my instance announced it was closing.

Raining@sh.itjust.works•Daily bunny no.3372 hides from the rainEnglish
3·1 day agoHello! It did but lemmings.world died a few hours before I posted the announcement 🙁 and didn’t come back up.
New home is !dailybunnies@lemmy.dbzer0.com
Yes, it’s way more difficult than the first one.
I managed to complete the first one, I forget exactly now but I think I struggled through to somewhere near the end of the second and then had to give up.

Programming@programming.dev•Microsoft has finally clapped back at the famous PS4 game share video, but in a very weird wayEnglish
1·6 days agoI used my work address, the other info they already have and the phone number wasn’t mandatory.
They do say they will delete it after shipping so I doubt it’s an issue. I don’t trust Microsoft but I also don’t think they’d be as blatant as to explicitly state they will do that and then bombard you with marketing.
I don’t get any marketing junk at work so I’ll soon know if that’s what they’ve done!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are there any websites from the 90s that you can remember but can find no trace of now?English
2·9 days agoThe original surreal Direct Debit website. tbf it’s on archive.org although not completely intact but “no trace of” isn’t entirely accurate (although I suspect that’s true of most 1990s websites)
None whatsoever, just old people being nostalgic for the days when we had blue passports.
They are such a dark blue that they are black really. I thought the burgundy ones looked smarter.
There were quite a number of things we were told “we can’t do that because of the EU”. Then, it turned out, we could actually do them, and did pretty much immediately after the vote but before we’d left. Like blue passports.

1·18 days agoYou can look at them anywhere they’ve been federated on Lemmy - I don’t think they get removed there. eg. https://feddit.uk/c/dailybunnies@lemmings.world
I literally did a current date minus the current bunny to get the start date so I can’t see why it would be wrong…

Daily Bunnies@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Daily bunny no.3348 can never agree on who tells the truthEnglish
3·27 days agoThat’s a question for the artist, this is just a mirror.
Even “young person” is stretching the definition of “young” 😂
But, yes, I grew up with metric, and I don’t particularly remember learning anything about imperial measurements in school. Other than things like miles and mph (and why do we still measure fuel efficiency in mpg, when fuel hasn’t been sold by the gallon for years?), which as a driver I’m obliged to use, I’m fully metric.
I’m very much not a kid but I don’t understand stones at all, so my weight, which I rarely bother to measure anyway, I do in kgs.
Something like this:

(I’ve probably missed something, and also I don’t think that lbs for weight is correct, should be stone)

UKCasual@lemmy.world•Are Sandisk SD cards from Argos always genuine?English
2·1 month agoI’ve never had a fake from Amazon but I don’t fully trust them for the reason you state (all the stock which is apparently the same gets mixed up). Argos only have their own stock, I’d be very surprised if you got a fake from there.
I’ve not bought a Kingston in years*, apparently they use spare capacity on other manufacturer’s lines so you don’t know exactly what you’re getting (this is not to say they are bad, but the quality can vary considerably).
- I had some experiences with them corrupting when being used in a Pi, I changed a number of things - one being the card brand - and haven’t had any issues since. The Pi is will known for being rough on SD cards so if it’s going into a phone you are unlikely to have problems of this nature anyway.
I’ve only just seen this.
Thank you for running this instance! Until it got blocked from the UK (I understand the reasons but it made it difficult to tell whether it was up or down, and is also the reason I’ve only just seen this post) it was my favourite place to host general communities.
Unless there’s any update on this I will begin to migrate my communities elsewhere (probably db0).

When I first started using it I had the issue that every install would throw up a new thing not working. I suspect that was the hardware rather than Linux though.
