He does it lovingly though, he has always had a big interest in American action and horror cinema since he was a kid. I don’t think it reduces his auteurism, he fills his work with references and callbacks to all the classic tropes of Hollywood but still makes it something new.

  • bloomer/doomer(?) posting

My revolutionary optimism is too strong, all the libs and some socialists around me seem a bit dispaired by all the horrors going on. Don’t get me wrong, I am too for sure, but they don’t seem to have any idea of how it could get better because they think everyone else who wants to do anything serious is just as evil as the US apparently. I am feeling engaged, social and active, motivated in ways I haven’t been in years, and it’s hard to share these vibes with anyone because everyone I talk to seems just generally upset and overworked.

I’m thankful for hexbear at least, where instead of pure doom we can at least celebrate the small victories against the imperialists like the strikes on bases going on, which a lot of libs probably don’t even realize are happening.

  • Make a show where a bunch of ecoterrorists foil a land developers plans to bulldoze a forest and make him go “GOOD HEAVENS!” while his bow tie spins and his monocle falls out.

In my memory that was basically Captain Planet, my cohort grew up on that and they wonder why we are radicals.

  • Just want to shout out again the greatness of getting the seat a proper height and lubing that thing up thoroughly. I was not having a great time with a bike someone gave me, it was squeaky as hell and felt weird, all I did was put a bunch of WD-40 in all the moving parts, it was good but there is WD40 specifically for bike chains that lasts better. Raised the seat to be at the height of my hip bone, it felt like it was too high at first but definitely better over time.

I can’t get off it now, I’m straight up the sicko biker everyday sicko-biker
